ID Request - Hunter region, NSW, Australia
    #10300664 - 05/07/09 01:54 AM (3 years, 20 days ago)

Im trying to make a database of mushrooms in my region so i can use it for future reference while hunting. These are just a couple I've seen on my travels. I'm also having a guess on what they are to see if I'm close to IDing them or if I'm on the wrong track. Looking forward to any input. Thanks

Mushroom 1
Habitat – bush, around leaf litter and wood chips
Gills – frilled, attached to stem,
Stem – central stem, 2cm diameter, 7cm length, firm
Cap – pink colouring, sunken in the middle, 9cm diameter, slimy when wet
Spore print – white spore print
Bruising – no bruising visible
Location – Hunter Region, NSW, Australia

Mushroom 2
Habitat - bush, around leaf litter and woodchips
Gills – sponge like, no gills, yellow/golden in colour
Stem – central stem, large specimen has thick stem, small specimen had a narrow stem
Cap – brown, flat
Spore print – couldn’t get one, turned into slime
Bruising – large specimen no bruising, small specimen extreme blueing almost instantly, turning black eventually
Location – Hunter Region, NSW, Australia

Mushroom 3
Habitat - bush, around leaf litter and wood chips
Gills – white-ish, free,
Stem – light caramel colour
Cap – almost 2 tone, orange to rust red, slight nipple
Spore print – dark brown
Bruising – only darkening of the flesh, no coloured bruising
Location - Hunter Region, NSW, Australia

My guesses.
1. Lactarius? russula?
2. Boletus? I can only assume they are a species of boletus, and thinking that they are 2 different species due to only the small one blueing and the other having no bruising reaction.
3. Stropharia? There were hundreds of these in the wood chip beds around some trees.

you've got the first 2 right im pretty sure, but i don't know about the 3rd one. the lack of dark gills says its not a stroph to me. but i may well be wrong.

The colour of the gills varies quite a bit.

They're probably the only mushroom that I can identify correctly.

Thanks for the input guys. I tried my hardest to get all the details before posting and seems like I've received a good result. I would still like a trusted identifier to come in and ID them also. My database is going to be great when I start getting more finds(hopefully some actives).
