need input for first time bulk grow

alright so i've been doing the brf cakes for a few years now and have gotten very confident with the tek, so now i want to start bulk growing. i have a bunch of questions that i would like you experienced guys to help out with. first off, what is the best way? Should i use rye and water, or should i use fully colonized cakes? also what is the best casing material. I think i got the rest under control, i just really would like to know what to use, i've heard that a horse poo mixture is good, but someone else said to do a rye and water substrate. so any help is appreciated, also if possible a quick explanation of how to lay out the casing materials.

The best way for you to do bulk would be rye monotubs. I would suggest the following:
Prep and PC 1Qt rye jars, 4qts for each 27qt tub you want to do.
Innoc and colonize jars.
In a 5 gallon bucket mix: 1 brick coco coir, 1 pint verm, 1 pint coffee grounds, 4 quarts boiling water
wait 30 mins then open and stir before re-closing.
Let sit for 12 hours.
Prep your tub. (clean and line with bag)
Mix 4 qts rye spawn with substrate mix until you have 3.5" substrate.
Make four 1.5" holes on each side of tub and fill with polyfil.
Let monotub colonize and then introduce to light and increase FAE.
Enjoy yield.

You can use cakes to spawn to bulk. You can case straight grains such as rye, or you can use the grain to spawn to bulk.
Many feel a casing is not needed, as cubensis do not "need" one, as some species do, and fruit fine without one. Don't try to go straight grain without a casing though, if one wants to do without a casing with only grain, spawn it to equal amounts of vermiculite that has been baked in the oven for 20 minutes at 350 and hydrated to field capacity with water after coming out of the oven.
One can also lay wax paper to help with pin formation if one doesn't use a casing layer (crumble up the wax paper and then spread lightly on the surface, remove to mist and change every few days. Let the mushroom push the wax paper up, they will and is not a problem.)
There really isn't any best method, as one can only sometimes hope for the best and do their best to keep conditions well as multispore is so random anyway.

Using my method I did not case and its currently showing a DENSE pinset.
And its my first grow ever too. Never even did BRF.

If you're comfortable with BRF cakes, just use those as spawn. I'd recommend spawning BRF to Poo. Take a look at Roadkill's Poo Tek: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/723303#723303 If you don't want to collect and pasteurize the poo yourself, there are a few vendors who sell it ready to go (We're The Shit & High Mountain Compost)
I'd also suggest NOT casing if it's your first time doing bulk. Good Luck.

Stick with what you already know. As Dudester67 said, you can use brf cakes as spawn since you have years of experience prepping that (grains require a PC) Find a recipe for bulk substrate that is easy for you and has been proven (do a search)
There is a ton of info on this stuff.

so i think im gonna just use some of the cakes as a spawn, probably the best and easiest for me. but i was told that if i pick a fresh mushie and put it in the food processor, then i can use the slurry to inoculate rye grains. is this a good idea, or should i stay to the cakes?

The whole mushroom in a blender concept sounds like a real easy way to let contams in. I would either use your cakes crumled, or cheese gratered mixed into a bulk substrate(poo,coir,etc.). If you wanna do rye, just inoculate the rye with your syringe. Then spawn it to bulk

just stick to cakes for at least your first bulk grow... less to go wrong. Im gonna be trying cakes spawned to coir/coffee soon, from what i see it works well and is simple.
also poly fill is the white stuff inside pillows and stuffed toys and such.
