Melbourne S/E Suburbs ID request. (With photos)

This is my first ID request, and I haven't answered a lot of the criteria completely, but hopefully the photos will suffice. I think that they're Gymnopilus purpuratus. Some guy who I met while hunting said that they were magic, so I figured I'd check.
Habitat: Woodchips
Gills: They have a slightly purplish tinge, and are attached.
Stem: Mostly white, but read near the bottom.
Cap: (See photo)
Spore print color: I'm doing one now, but the guy who was also picking them said that they'd have a pruplish tinge to them.
Bruising: Not apparent.
Other information:

hmm these are not subs. 90% sure they are not gyms either. if the spore print turns out brown, im pretty sure they are strophs. they are not psychoactive, but actually mildly toxic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stropharia_aurantiaca

Shit, I don't think that the guy who told me they were active was just lying to me, because he pulled out a bag full of them when I asked if he'd found any [mushrooms in general, not those specifically]. Are you sure though, because L.ceres look a lot more red than the ones that I have?

hmm strophs vary a lot. if the guy you saw told you that they were active, he was lying to you... or just thinks that they are subs lol. wait for a spore print though... if it is rusty orange, you may have a gymnopilus. but if it turns out completely brown then stroph it is.

That is Leratiomyces ceres.
Its mildly toxic, causing diarrhea. One old hippie around here used to eat them and said they caused him to trip, but I think he was just getting poisoned a little.

Yeah, the spores are brown. That's probably the case with the guy who I spoke to. There were actually a few people picking mushrooms there, so hopefully there's something worth getting in there somewhere.
I feel bad for picking so many for nothing.

Go back there.
Take pictures of every mushroom you see.
Post them here.
Thanks.

I've found some pretty cool ones there, and I have spore prints and what not, but I just need some time to organise and upload the photos. Next time I'm there and there are others looking I'll ask them about what ones grow there.
