wow, its been along time since ive posted in the EG. So im long over due.
OK, so i was doing a little spring cleaning and a bottom half of a loph from a previous graft attempt. its pretty dried of the little roots are dry and flaking off. its been laying around since january. i have no grafting stock to do an upside down graft. plus, i think im pretty sure its dormant due to being in the dark in my bed room, so i dont think it would be my best option. i really want to revive this.
so thats the story, if any one can give me some advice with the replanting it that would be awesome. since, the roots are so dry i dont realy know what to do and how much water im going to need. A preemptive thanks to you guy since i know youll know exactly what do. cheers!

Replant this poor guy. If you left any areoles it will pup as soon as it recovers up from the stress. Thats what I do with my bottom ends of lophs when grafting (gave up of upside down grafts).

You mean watering the graft? I would water [the stock] 5 days before grafting so that it's a little juicy but wont slide around, see the recent thread where someone had an issue for this for the reason why. Only water if it has roots, I'm not 100% sure what you are asking though.

No Amber, I think you got it wrong.
He's got the low end of a loph that he didn't graft at the proper time.
SB: I'd say, put it into a pot with brand new soil (well drained and well composted sterile soil) and give it some water sparingly, until it slowly rehydrates and gets more mass.

Ok, I get it, I thought he was going to graft it; if what I understand it on now is correct then yes, you're advice would be the best action.
