If i harvested spores off the fruits would they cultivate with the original vigor? What about tissue from the base of a fruit body?
Id really like to keep this strain going if its at all possible

Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important.”

A tissue would have to be cloned and would not be effected by senescence either.
If you clone from a fruit you will preserve the age of the mycellium and yes senescense will be a factor.
-------------------- Evolution is Lamarckism in disguise. Adaptation never creates a new species or trait, but rather the new species/trait always existed within the parent DNA until circumstances allowed it to be activated. For instance, every wolf has the DNA for poodles, but that DNA would never be revealed without man selectively breeding for it.

So collecting spores is the way to go?
I'll steralize some empty jars with notecards in them, Take some good looking caps out of the monotub and and place them in the jars inside a disenfected glovebox.
Then i'll have to formulate some AGAR to isolate good ropey mic.
Sounds bout right?

Absolutely, however there's nothing wrong with giving the ol' college try when using tissue to inoculate. Senescence = age. The older your fruit body tissue, the worse the chance becomes at successful inoculation and contamination prevention.

That we will need it for something. Maybe just to think our way out of the mess that we're getting into.
Shulgin: If it's needed, we have it. That's the beauty. The tool is there. For the time when the need is obvious. And this may be our lifetime...

Making prints from the Fruitbodies is the simple solution.
Senescence will not be an issue until you have cloned many many times off the original fruit. I seriously don't think you should be worried about such things at this point in your cultivation experience.

I've been keeping this strain going with grain 2 grain for over a year (just about a year exactly), it seems to be tuckered out. I'll take the jars i froze, start tubs and try to collect spores from the fruits. That should fix everything it sounds like!

When you go back to spores you lose the strain. Remember, a strain is a pairing of compatible hyphae. The way to avoid senescence is to make master culture slants from juvenile cell lines of the strain you wish to preserve. RR

Thanks RR, aparently i have a ton of research to do on these terms
"master culture slants"
"Juvenile cell lines"
I might wan't to latch onto a microbology book from the library and become real farmilier with it.
