The Classic Album Thread

I want to have a thread that we can pool together our favorite classic albums that have a more indie sense to them. I have a bunch of albums that I love but just don't belong in the Indie album thread. For the sake of music lets consider "classic" to mean anything up to the early 90's (no wave movement shits etc.)
But please everyone, lets not post fucking mainstream shit from the 80's like your favorite Quiet Riot album or some bullshit like that.
I want this thread to show us some classic music that is new to each of us, not a bunch of widely known shit.
But fuck, if you love it, then post it.
Also try to include the year the album was released so we can get the gist of the time line the music was made in.
I'll start it off with...

A fuckin pioneer in music, so many artists were influenced by him, listen and love it. Great Shit. 1971

Serge Gainsbourg - Histoire de Melody Nelson

Another great pioneer band, but more so in the acid rock area. If you don't have it already I suggest giving it a listen. 1966
Quote:
Forget about San Francisco: The American capitol of psychedelic rock was Austin, Texas, and no band soared higher than Roky Erickson and the 13th Floor Elevators. In addition to acid-tinged garage rockers such as the crazed-love anthem, "You're Gonna Miss Me," the Elevators' debut included tracks such as "Reverberation (Doubt)," "Roller Coaster," and "Splash 1," which viscerally evoked the sounds of their titles while offering lyrics that provided a philosophical structure for the psychedelic experience. The lyrics were written by Tommy Hall, who also played amplified jug. Hard as it may be to believe now, that jug created a weird sound that predicted that burbling synthesizers of modern-day techno. --Jim Derogatis
The 13th Floor Elevators - The Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators
I'll let other people post some contributions before I flood this joint.
Let the good times begin!!

I probably can't follow the "indie sense" part, but I'm gonna bring my hard drive in today from my car (8 months after I moved into my apartment haha) and I'll upload some albums that mean or meant a lot to me and shaped my interests. Does it really have to be up til 1990 though? I mean I'm only 21 so there are classic albums to me from the 90s.

It's common knowledge that Jewunit is an umemployed drain on society, supposedly attending some university that nobodies ever heard of.
He may in fact, be a literal bum, only able to make himself known to us here by occasionally stopping into dark internet cafes to make a few quick, frantic posts before the owners force him to leave because of the stench of rotting vegetables and desperation wafting forth from his pores.
