Problem with agar LC lids

I bought some lids off of natures-resource.com when it was open. The lid works like a charm. I just shoot a cc in and put it on the plate and the LC explodes with growth. The problem comes when I try to extract the LC from the jar. I insert the needle into the injection port and then lay the jar on its side. Leaving the filter on the top side so no LC is touching it. When I try to extract the LC I get a ton of vacuum and NO LC getting sucked into the syringe. When I pull the needle out there is a vacuum whistle. When I used a similar airport lid I could suck the LC right out and the vacuum would be equalized by the airport. Is the lid malfunctioning or am I supposed to treat the lid somehow
<manualing blowing through the filter to clean it before I PC?> <boiling it in water to clean the filter or something?> Again the growth is good so there is obviously some gas exchange.

Inject how ever much sterile air into the container for however much LC you are removing. No more vacuum.... To get sterile air in your syringe take alcohol lamp, flame needle, suck in hot air.

This is kinda happened to me I tightened the lid to soon... When the PC is done if you don't wait for it too cool all the way and tighten the lid then it creates a vacuum. I have a GT LC jar that has a vacuum on it and I gota figure out how to withdraw some into my syringe without contaminating it..

LC's don't need much (if any) gas exchange to grow. Sounds like the filter is probably clogged by the sugars from the LC. You could try to inject some clean air into the jar with an empty syringe by lighting a flame at the needle tip and slowly pulling back the plunger until the syringe is full of flame sterilized air. Use that air to inject into the jar to help relieve some of the negative pressure.
Alternatively, if the injection port is wide enough to handle 2 needles at once, you could make an "airport syringe" by stuffing clean polyfil into the body of an empty syringe (no plunger), then stick the needle into the injection site side by side with the syringe you are using to extract the LC with. The polyfil stuffed syringe will act as a filter while you extract the LC with the other syringe.
I hope that made sense. I've had a long night.

Nice idea with the 2 syringes ingenious !!

I actually did that. the problem is that there is only one injection point and the I could not get the airport needle above the liquid line without having to hold the jar and the 140cc syringe is a big bad ass mo fo, but you need two hands to get it full more or less.

Have you tried plan "A" with the flame sterilized air? That should do the trick if the airport syringe didn't.

Thanks, but I can't take credit for the idea. I've seen others do it in the past.
