Hunted yesterday in Central Florida mainly because we had some nice temperatures after a rain. It is still going to be a while for Central Florida before the cubes come back. I ran into this guy on the way out. It is a Florida Scarlet snake and NOT a coral snake.
Found some pluteus cervinus and that was it for shrooms (except a few boring polypores).
NEED MORE RAIN. Even thought we got some yesterday and last Monday - WE NEED MORE.
Pretended I was Stever Irwin for about 5 minutes with this black racer! I kept heading him off and finally I got him to lunge in the air - then I watched him slide away.
I saw 3 black racers yesterday and touched 2 of them

peace and happy hunting

That's unusual. I usually find them to be pretty mean, and VERY fast!

They are pretty quick but not too quick for me . I grabbed one's tail and pulled him backwards where I could see him. The other one was kind of nice until I stirred him up a bit. Thanks Weiliiiii...lots of Pluteus around but I was in the middle of cow patty land and saw absolutely NOTHING Oh well I'll wait a while and try it again .

also when I was 10 I was running really fast down a dirt road and straight up stepped on a curled up rattle snake.I looked back and saw it looking at me rattling like crazy
back then I don't think I really understood the severity of the situation. I was 100 miles from the nearest hospital

Poor snakes. I hope they didn't sustain any broken bones.
Glad you guys didn't get bit.

in houston i had a copper head strike my leather boot, it was in a patch of spruce milkcaps, i was a bit scared, started walking with a stick to poke the bushes before i stuck my head in. the bear creek park is full of snakes! its the best park in tx to go hunting for edibles and flora and fauna.

find this tree ill send ya a dollar!
