Im actually thinking of getting a used diesel pickup truck. Its really easy and cheap to convert it to run on vegetable oil from fast food places, some are already able to right off the lot. It would cost a bit for the tank and filters, but once the intial investment is over, it would pay for itself in a few weeks-months. My brother inlaw has a chevy diesel, and it came stock with a fuel bowl heater. So all he needs now is a tank, filter, run some fuel lines, and a switch to change from normal, to vegie oil. Then you start the truck on normal, and once warmed up, switch to vegie oil, and before you turn it of you run normal diesel through it. Reason for this is vegie is a bit thicker, and you don't want it plugging up any thing when it cools. And free oil is a LOT better than almost $5.00 a gallon. Just be sure to pay your road tax, else the IRS will be on your ass. Ill have to check in to see what the rates are, im not really sure how they calculate it, if its mileage, or amount of fuel used. |
