http://www.fox16.com/news/state/ BERRYVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The Berryville mayor says marijuana found in his pickup truck last weekend did not belong to him and he hopes the owner will come forward "and do the right thing." Mayor Timothy McKinney was arrested on misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance, and speeding after a traffic stop by a Carroll County sheriff's deputy Sunday on Highway 62 outside Berryville. The sheriff says the deputy stopped the truck for speeding, gave McKinney a field sobriety test that the mayor failed and found a small amount of marijuana in the truck. McKinney was booked into the county jail and later released on $1,486 bond. McKinney has been mayor since 1991. He said he routinely has been tested for drug use for his job as a lineman for Entergy Arkansas, and he doesn't use drugs. He apologized for the embarrassment he has caused the city and its residents. An arraignment date was set for May 7 in Berryville District Court. |
