Very much like the spirit of Wiki where we let the community make changes and updates to the site. I reverted the page back to the original form (I think) and permabanned the user that defaced the page.
To those worried, this was not a hack. Anybody with a user account has permission to modify the information pages on the main site. Of course, giving me extra work to do first thing on a Monday morning before coffee isn't the brightest thing in the world to do.

weve gotta keep you admins on your toes. 
just a thought, maybe it isnt a bright idea to allow people to alter certain things. im all for user interface and allowing people add onto and edit information, but allowing them to edit main titles and whatnot isnt a good idea. otherwise we might have alot of recurrences like this.

wikipedia copes with allowing unregistered users to edit anything, so I don't see why the shroomery can't let registered users do the same.

Maybe it was mj who else would be retarded enough with webpages to think they hacked the site by editing a page that was editable...
Yeah I still think the editing feature is awesome. We need to get some people working on it accutally doing it though. I did a bunch of work in the mushroom hunting section a while back and then it's kind of been forgotten about. A few edits here and there but nothing major.

pagelinks = google pr
google pr = website hits
websites hits = sponsors paying
sponsors paying = Ythan's paycheck
Ytahn's paycheck = Improvements on the shroomery!
So let's all sit on our asses in front of the computer and donate some time in editing updating and adding content!
