is it possible to put links in your Journal to old posts without having to create a new post to put the link in?

You can edit all the posts you make. Just click the "edit" link on your post which is located next to "reply" and "quote" links and just add the links where needed.

what I'd like is to have the old post link show directly in journal. Not have to create a new post in which to put the link to the old post.
Like how in your sig you can have links without having to create new posts to put them in. Maybe it's not possible.

I'm not sure if I fallow you correctly, but as from what I understand you have to edit your old post, copy the link, then edit your journal and paste it there.

for example, in my sig I've got a link which goes straight to a web page. But if I want to put that same link in my journal I have to create a new post and put the link in there. Can I link to it in journal directly like I do in sig?

Yes you can! Just go to that post in your journal you wish to add the link, edit it and add the link. Simple.
