Symbolism/meaning of the "eyeball room?"

About a week ago I had a very influential experience on about 3-3.5g of mushrooms(with lemon.) I layed down, and for the majority of the trip all I could see with my eyes closed was this tunnelish, verticle "eyeball room" out of which an octopusesque feminine humanoid slowly came from, "her" tenctacles were sprinkled with these same eyes.
I recently looked into some of Alex Greys artwork and I recognized the "eyeball room" appeared in a lot of his work as well as the work of a couple other artists I came across. It doesnt seem as if its an uncommon experience(I never though those words would even cross my mind when talking about psychedelics.)
What is our interpretation of this awkward realm of eyeballs? Do we have one or is this just an unexplainable, "common" experience?
The tunneling "eye room."

I think all parts of reality can seem sentient and those eye motifs are everywhere when that kind of thing is afoot.

I've always viewed reality as being almost completely sentient. Even if you talk to someone who belongs to an organized religion, their views on reality will never be the same as one another regaurdless of the beliefs they share.
Why would the visual representation of opening your third eye be so non-subjective and constistant? I would think something as potentially complex as this would be more subjective and not so constant from person to person.

I think there are several shapes and objects hardwired into the human mind. I believe on of these is the nipple. A child new to this world knows what to do without being taught.
I believe another is an eye. We use eyes in communication.
I think we tend to see these architypical things when we trip.

the reason would be that if you think that something is alive and reactive and looking at you, then the dark parts of it become eyes. once this idea starts on a strong psychedelic the holographic pervasiveness of the eye motif will place it like wall paper everywhere. it becomes a subunit of everything. in this way you can easily get rooms full of eyes, and many people do have this particular vision from time to time. as for it being 3-rd eye symbolism. that is a glib and meaningless but harmless thing to say, and if people want to believe it is an honor then it really is an honor.

true
anyways... visions of eyes and these diamond shapes (or yantras as I found out today) and mandalas are all pretty normal when you are getting close to some sort of ego loss.
... and I think all perception is sentient... unless we're not thinking and feeling what we're doing...
