well seasoned cast iron is great for cooking anything
when I was a little girl I remember my folks always cooked Sunday morning breakfast in two cast irons...one for taters and one for eggs, sausage, and bacon
miss those days

I love cast iron. There,s nothing really you cant cook. Just and be sure and season it first if it is a new set. Heres a link to one of my favorite tv shows, just dealing with cooking with cast. camp fire cafe it has a lot of good recipes.

I cook a kickass dish right in the camp fire with a large Dutch oven....(A large cast pot with a tight fitting lid)
You will need 3 cans of pop open biscuts and some oil Some veggies... par boiled or precooked on a stick over the fire Some cooked meat.....left over grilled meats from lunch A can of mushroom soup, condensed
Ok first mix up all your veggies and meats and the can of soup. Add about a quater cup of water or so.. The mixture should be very lummpy and thick yet gravy like.
Second, oil up your pot. Place all your canned biscuts in the pan. You want to build a pie shell thingy. Then put in your food mix. Now place more biscuts on top....Pie shell lid.
Third dig a hole in your fire.place pot...push coals around.push coals on top.
When is it done ? When bubbles of gravey starts spilling from the lip........your close

the best chicken fryer. I love a well seasoned cast iron pan for searing and browning. I also like enameled cast iron for dutch ovens and such their heat retention is unrivaled and Im never afraid of burning or otherwise ruining the pan, very durable. Le creuset or Staub make the best.
