 Two SCOBY's to give away next week.

I've been brewing kombucha again, and should have two Scoby's (Symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) ready to go next week if anyone is interested.
They'll be vacuum sealed with enough starter tea to help you out.

hey i would be very interested. have a friend who used to brew.
so what do you do? just feed it tea and that's it?

Basically plop it in a gallon glass jar (wide-mouth) of green or black tea, it replicates itself, and the tea is infused with kombucha goodness in the process.
the recipe is basically:
-boil 3 quarts of water
-add one cup sugar
-steep six bags of green/black/yerba mate tea
-allow to cool then place in non-reactive vessel
-plop in scoby and starter fluid
-cover with cheesecloth or paper towel to prevent knats
-it'll do the rest.

cool, thanks, very generous of you.
i just read that you're not supposed to use herbal teas, so i guess using jasmine green tea would be out of the question?
heh, i might just have to try it with yerba mate, that shit'll have me spun... good shit. and yes kombucha is some tasty goodness indeed.

I think you're supposed to avoid any teas with a presence of fragrant oils. I'll check with the old man, he's brewed in everything from green tea to flat root beer.
