Under state law, it is illegal to possess psilocybin and psilocybin mushrooms in all states except New Mexico. New Mexico appeals court ruled on June 16, 2005, that growing psilocybin mushrooms for personal consumption could not be considered "manufacturing a controlled substance" under state law.

Florida law states that we are allowed to possess psilocybin (field collected) mushrooms, that is why whenever I transport shrooms anywhere I wrap them in wax paper and put them in a paper bag, if I ever get pulled over I wont be busted...

Its considered a misdemeanor and is classified as a Schedule I drug...
"guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not less than five hundred dollars ($500) or more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or by imprisonment for a definite term less than one year, or both"

its still illegal. what theyre saying is instead of going to jail for manufacturing a controlled substance, which is basically drug dealing, youll go for just possesion. its like taht in a number of states.

Actually state trumps federal *in theory at least*. Usually they get you by claiming jurisdiction over interstate commerce, so even if a substance is legal in a state they can lie about where it originated from and then use federal laws to prosecute.

Federal rules all. 4th grade social studies. city -> county -> state -> federal - echelons of USA.
It would probably be preferrable to live in a place with such laws. But do they shelter you from the power of the federal goverments and their power to prosecute you under federal law? NO.

At least they have some level-minded people in goverment down there.
I would agree mushroom cultivators should not be put next to people running meth labs in the eyes of the law.
