does anyone have a ballpark of what a stolen / fake passport that is usable might run for?

There is so much security that goes into each passport that even if you could find one there would be a high chance of getting fucked with some hardcore law.

There are over 54 known security measures in each and every single passport. That's physically built into the passport. Not to mention the bar codes, the computer programs, the tracking software, the thumbprint/id match up and a slew of other documentation devices.
Only "spies" have fake passports. You try to get into the states with a fake passport from outside the country, especially a "watch-list" country, you are very very very fucked.
Secret Service, Immigration, FBI, and local police officials can and do pursue people who offer or ask about fake passports online. Its a fact. Do not do it. I worked at the Second busiest airport in the world for a year and half. You would not believe the security in a passport.

I don't think he was specifically asking how to get one, he was just curious what the going rate was for a fake passport. I would guess several thousand dollars (but you still have to know a person who could make/get one), but I really have no idea. I remember in that movie "The Jackal" the main character paid quite a bit of money for his fake passports. That was a good movie.
