An Interesting Food

I was at the health food store looking for healthy junk to pile onto salads. The people who work there recommended this: http://www.manitobaharvest.com/cartshop/productview.asp?key=5
It is shelled hemp seed. I checked out the nutritional info. It has 11g of complete protein in 2 tablespoons as well as a high Omega 3 ratio. It appears to be a healthy fat and protein laden food, and it is has no additives or preservatives. I was skeptical, but I tried it and it works well on salads...like sunflower seeds.

Yes, shelled hemp seed is delicious AND highly nutritious! My youngest likes it sprinkled on his oatmeal, and I've noticed that the heat & moisture brings out a unique green spiciness in the seeds.
I've also used it in vinaigrette, smoothies, yogurt "sundaes," pumpkin bars and hummus. I recommend keeping it in an airtight container in your fridge or freezer (depending upon how quickly you will use it up).

Hemp oil is one of the most nutritionally balanced oils for humans. Check out the 3-6-9- profile.

Hemp oil is also great in salad dressing & hummus. Mmmm...hummus. I think I'll make some this weekend!

I read that, but is it heat tolerant?

I have it in the freezer, but it is going rapidly. As you know I consume an obscene amount of protein, and raw vegetable proteins that taste good are popular with me for daytime consumption.

No! It's not a good idea to heat nutritional oils, as they readily oxidize. For maximum benefit, purchase cold-pressed oils & keep them in the fridge.

Was going to say the same thing. Hemp seed is basically the single most nutritionally complete natural food humans can consume. One could argue for maybe spirulina as well.

I eat hemp seeds every day. They are amazing nutritionally. I've really been reading up on the importance of Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratios lately, and Hemp seeds are a prime food as far as that goes.
Hemp seeds rock, and I will keep eating them for the rest of my life

Hemp seeds are seriously addicting. I actually have to try to avoid eating them. Last summer I was putting away 10-15 bucks a day in hemp oil and seeds. Not to mention my son can't seem to stop either.
I LOVE that stuff.

It would be very easy. I am a monster of a man (not fat). I could easily eat 15 dollars of that shit a day.

This is the best place in the world to talk about food. I get so many new and enlightened ideas here. Funny...talk to drug freaks and misfits to get the deal on healthy food...lol.

Well, it's about $12 for a bottle of 12 servings (roughly, prices vary pretty widely out here) and $10 for a bag of seeds. I'd be taking 3 double shots of oil, and eating a half a bag of seeds a day, easy.
I love that stuff, in fact, I;m gonna go buy a bottle and a sack today and get jiggy with it.
