Swimmers Ear!!!
    #8381530 - 05/09/08 11:51 AM (6 months, 23 days ago)

I recently took up swimming and i have rediscovered my first love that i found as a child, being in the water.

Unfortunately i didn't wear ear plugs & have got a serious bout of swimmers ear!

I'm on antibiotics and theres bit of wax/water leaking out my ear now & then, on sunday i got a satsang with my guru and i want to be able to hear wtf hes saying!
Whenever a bit leaks out it feels so relieving but theres till so much pressure in there...its been 2 days so far progressivly getting worse & worse, im hoping ive hit the peak and ill wake up fine tomorrow...

Is there anything else i can do to speed it up at all??

Yeah i got the ear drops, they suck, anything you put into your ear makes it worse as the wax eats it up then it swells even more.

The drops would be a good preventative, but not cure.

Im trying to find techniques to get the shit outa there not put more crap in

Thanks anyhow...

I read a fairly good mystery novel lately that had an interesting solution to this problem: take twisted up pieces of newspaper/kleenex, roll them up tightly, and stick them in your ears. Then light both ends. Supposedly the heat from the burning pieces either evaporates the water from your ears or draws it out with some sort of pressure differential. Dunno if it's true, and I'd be a little wary about anything having to do with ears/fire, but might as well give it a shot.

Yeah i heard about that its a japanese technique i think, the first thing i thought was go to an acupuncturist. I just dont wanna burn myself to add insult to injury!

Gonna try headstand tonight when im home, the liquid seems to e coming out now it just hurts like a bitch when the painkillers wear off, which to me implies its not healing.

If im still screwed 2mro morning im gonna find an acupuncturist

I would not use newspaper. However, they do make a thing called ear candles specifically designed for that purpose.

I'm not sure but I think there's something you can put into your ear *preemptively* to prevent swimmer's ear; I wanna say it's mineral oil but am too lazy to look it up.

This is the only thing that works, sleeping on one side, its going now, still blocked but not painful anymore. Its leaking bit by bit, very small bits.

I also had a filling done today, seem like my bodys doing alot of repair work for summer!

Not sure ifits the painkillers, the satsang yesterday or its healing but its starting to go...
