So before Katrina hit my hometown I had a career, or at least options. And ever since my jobs have been aweful and I have made no good references and now I cannot use my previous work history - any of it - so it looks like me, who once coooked for real five star hotels and restaurants will now have to take a huge paycut and start working for chain restaurants, as a mere cook. My professional life and career suck, and my whole previous work life was a total waste.
Thanks for reading. I can't move somewhere else, and it wouldn't change the underlying situation as food service everywhere is the same.

hmm it must suck to drop a few inches in careerland. Try to make the best of it; apparently you're a good chef, so make use of your talents and cook awesome food with the ingredients and possibilities you have. Make yourself stand out (maybe you do already). good luck of making the best of it and finding a job that suits you.
Is it a possibility to start your own restaurant?
