Anytime. Hot sauce is usually oil based, and water would just spread it around

I once made a huge batch of killer salsa with many habeneros, which I diced by hand. For two days afterwards, my hands would burn whenever they got wet . . . unfortunately so would my member, as I took a leak before cleaning my hands after chopping stuff up.

Best way to stop that..Is to mix 5 parts water to one part bleach wash your with this..This will turn the hot stuff into a salt that can be washed off, with plain dishing soap..

Yup, something with oil, or better still alcohol is an excellent solvent for capsacin.

a better way is to wear rubber gloves when handling peppers
BTW, even bell peppers can make little jimmy burn
