 I just failed another Calc II test.

And I’ve got a Physics test next week on the day of my Birthday.  
I don’t have anyone to hang out with on my birthday anyway so I guess it doesn’t really matter.
Maaaan im down on life atm. I’ve been working hard on these classes but they’re still kicking my ass. I find myself questioning whether or not im smart enough to go to school, and it hurts me to say that because I like to believe im intelligent. But I really don’t feel that way lately. 
I’m about to be 23 and I still don’t feel like I have a path, you’d think at my age I’d have some stuff figured out but im lost as ever.
I keep dreaming of this girl I use to know. “Use to” being key here. I don’t know her any more. She’s vary happy about that, but lately im rather sad about it.
When she shows up in my dreams it’s refreshing. But then I wake up and remember the downward spiral that led to the way things are now. And that just makes me feel like shit. But she’s happy now, so im content with the way things are between us. 
I don’t know what im going to do about my life; I’m not content with any aspect of it. And depression has been getting the best of me lately. I thought the xanax was helping but maybe its doing the opposite.

I feel exactly the same as you on the school
I'm taking 3 pretty hard classes + Spanish which I have no desire to learn. working hard and still struggling
I question myself about if its really for me + if I'm smart enough
but atm I just have the attitude to keep going and hopefully I pull of decent grades
just gotta try and get through it unless you really feel like its not for you

Calc is a serious bitch I wish I wouldn't have been a slacker in highschool and taken some real math classes... I had to take 3 calc classes in college and had to bust my ass to pull C's in there it sucked ass. They made our tests so hard that the class average would be like a 40% and then they would curve the tests, I don't really understand what the point of making a test that hard is but whatever I'm glad that shit is behind me.

You're justing having a bad moment.
You will get over it man. Just think, a few semesters down the line, when you are fucking graduating, you will be happy as shit.
But, if you really feel like college is killing you then take a break.
And the thing about math is you just have to sit down and work out the logics. It's a bitch, it's boring, you hate it. But you just got to do it. I don't know about you, but when I started doing math in college (I failed miserably at math during high school) I had a lot of trouble with it. The trick is when you first sit down, you mind will begin to wander and you will get lazy and say to yourself, this is bullshit, or you will get tired and try to rush through. At this point, take a deep breath, and just continue (it helps if one drink a shit load of coffee). Get the laziness out of your head. If the first time you read something and you go WTF did he just say? Go back and read it again until you really understand it in your own terms. The trick is to work out the logic in your own terms. And the other thing is to understand the notation. Math is just a language. Once you can speak the language (notation) math will become easy. And also, if you have some trouble with something, start at beginning, write each step down on paper and just examine it. And if you still don't understand something, find help.
After awhile you will get use to the stupid math. The trick is to just tough it out and no matter what, just work at it. Go through the logic, beat the laziness.

You're probably just gettin hung up on the preliminaries, algebra can be a real bitch if you cant see your next move right away.

Calc II kicked my ass, I know how you feel. Just make sure you pass. If it comes down to the last semester and you have some extra credit hours, you can always retake it for a better grade. Then again, if you have extra credit hours, it might be better to take an easy class to boost your GPA that way.

Im pushing 30 and i havent figured shit out yet. Fuck nobody i know has. They just make a couple of kids and call it a plan.

I agree. Just because you learned "some" algebra in middle school doesn't mean algebra is easy. College level algebra is laughably difficult if you don't know what you are doing.

I just scored a 63 (71, after +8 curve) on my electromagnetics exam. It involved some pretty heavy vector calculus, and reamed most of the class.
Anyway, hang in there and buckle down on the studying. Talk to your professor if you're not grasping something, ask questions in calss, etc. It's possible to turn around the second half of the semester and pass, but it takes hard work.

LISTEN. Stop seeing your friends, stop watching tv, stop going to family reunions and any of that other bullshit. Sit at your fucking desk and study non stop. Forget about weed, shrooms, and every other drug... except adderall of course if you want to study for 20 hours straight. I raped the shit out of my cell bio exam, physics, biochemistry, I raped them all like fucking whores and sliced their tits off. If you wanna be the top of the class then forget your old life, your school is your life.

I got an A on my Calc 4 exam with probably 45 minutes of studying.  I guess I just "get it." Physics on the other hand sucks balls and I did terrible on the midterm.

Calc 4? Hmm, im an engineering student and haven’t even heard of such a nightmare.
What level course is it? For what type of degree?
I had to take three semesters of Calculus, and I struggled with Calc II more than any other math class so far. So don’t feel too bad.

Well here at osu he go on quarters rather than semesters. So 2 semesters=3 quarters here with the option of Summer quarter if you want to stay.
Calc 4 is multivariable calculus. Past derivatives, integrals and series. Just 1 or 2 added variables. So like partial deriviates and triple integrals and such. not hard.

For us, Calc 3 is Multivariable Calculus
Then there is Differential Equations, which is sometimes referred to as Calc 4.

Yea I am in Multivariable calc now and need 1 more calc class then I am done with math!!
now I just need to figure out my degree....Thinking about Food, bio, and agriculture engineering. Chemical engineering is too hard and I want to work with living things.
Who knows maybe I can get to the point and genetically create the ultimate pot plant.

small world. im taking calc 2 at college and its raping me, the class average is a d and im failing, and the teacher is not curving. im dropping though and taking it a different school. but good luck man.
