The media are oozing with erotic imagery, symbolism and innuendo, and with the passing of the years also homoeroticism is finding its way onto the media. This is not to be confused with appearance of gay characters in TV shows, but actual gay eroticism is meant.
A good example would be this video clip of the song "Mann gegen Mann" by the German rockband Rammstein, which deliberately feeds the controversy:
The question at hand is: how do you feel that this kind of variety is starting to show itself in the mainstream media? This, ofcourse with the usual labeling for mature content.
Let's keep discussion respectful but honest, in the good tradition of Pub threads.
I don't vote in polls, but I don't mind. I also don't feel overwelmed by homoeroticism and yes, I would still see the movie, unless the movie just SUCKS with boredom, like BBM.

"Would I go if there is prominent homosexuality in a movie?"
I read the question wrong and voted "I don't think I would". I voted before i read "good story and favorite genre and actors."
So yes hypothetically, I would go see it. Any way to change my vote?
I voted no originally because there are no movies that fit this description out, with what I consider prominent homosexuality. For example, I didn't see Brokeback Mountain, because its a Romance/Drama and isn't my 'type' of movie.
This is the 'type' of movie I enjoy:
"American Beauty, American History X, American Psycho, Apocalypto, Blow, The Boondock Saints, Crank, Cruel Intentions, Equilibrium, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fight Club, Friday, Kill Bill 1 & 2, The Machinist, Office Space, Pulp Fiction, Requiem for a Dream, Romeo and Juliet, Scarface, Snatch, Sin City, Super Troopers, Traffic, Training Day, Trainspotting, V for Vendetta."
Some of them do have some homosexuality, but I wouldn't consider it prominent in anyway.
Anyways just ignore my vote on that last question.
I think it's slowly becoming mainstream, although I'm a bit pissed off that homo is considered as a real social phenomenon with gay males being open and showing their identity to the world, while gay women in the media are portraied more like a male sexual fantasy, obviosly there are some exeptions but in general love between women is more tabu in my opinion,oh but we were talking about eroticism... in magazines I see many pubblicities of clothes like D&G with quite erotic images of male models looking kinda gay,saw one the other day with about 10 men in their undies in a locker room, they are all touching each other's thighs and looking straight in the camera as if they're thinking "hey, any problem with our sexy orgie?" I guess there is quite a bit of machilism also in the gay world, what do you think?
I'd say 300 is full of homoeroticism, buff men, all greased up, hot man on man action as they pummel each other while wearing barely anything more than leather undies.
Pretty much every gay man I know left the theater drooling just a little.

You have been around butch dykes, yes?
Advertising is selective for a reason.

That hit me in such the right way that I chuckled...because YES I've seen those types of ads.
An interesting example was the movie Titanic. Basically a man and a woman become a couple, the boat sinks and there is drama all over
That movie was very successful in the cinemas, but I think the movie would've barely made a ripple in the cinema world, other than bitter controversy, if the loving couple depicted would've been gay.
Did gay people walk out of the cinema in disgust because of the constant heterosexual innuendo permeating the movie?
Homosexuals in general have a high tolerance for sexual themes in media that are not of their sexual preference, this due to constant exposure to it. I think the same desensitization, but of heterosexuals, is in order, for society to become more harmonious.
With racism you often see the worst tragedies happening where there's the least exposure to one another between the groups.
Aside from reflection in the media as a gay man myself I think society would benefit that if there is to be prominent eroticism in the media, there should be prominent homoeroticism as well.
The world is changing. Acceptance requires visibility.

someone oughtta dig up the clip of them on stage pissing all over their fans @ one of their concerts (or at least - the lead singer anyways)
that one was a lot better methinks
I remember that one! I think that was Rammstein playing Buck Dich on the Family Value Tour. I don't know how to embed video so you can do the search yourself.

As for the topic at hand, I think I generally agree with what you're saying, Wiccan. Heterosexual relationships are the norm (obviously) in society and the media, so homosexuals aren't astounded when they see it in movies and such. But heterosexuals are rattled when they see gay relationships portrayed in the media because it still is pretty taboo, and that isn't going to change for a long time.
still I don't understand...I wanted to say that gay women in the media are only allowed to be erotic when they're sexy college girls making out to arouse boys, while gay men have the freedom to be who they are, either girly or butch for example that D&G ad portrayed some straight looking young men (apart from the fact they were touching them selves eheh)
Personally I think gay couples look sexy when they look "straight",I'm more disturbed by she-males or girly-men having sexual intercourse
