Ya got yer Duke Ellington and then ya got yer count basie. The two best. There's a great album called "The Duke vs. the Count," with both of them.
Cab Calloway is also good, but is a little more hokey.
If you're looking for stuff with singing definitely check out some albums that have Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Bessie Smith, etc.
