Police state in UK

Real knife wounds used as warning

Graphic images of real injuries inflicted by knives feature in a new £3m government advertising campaign against youth violence.

The ads devised by teenagers aim to show the dangers of carrying a knife.

One shows a man with a knife and a screwdriver in his chest, and deep, gaping wounds to the body.

Meanwhile, Metropolitan Police chief Sir Ian Blair said nearly 200 weapons had been seized as operations against knife crime in London were stepped up.

Speaking at a news conference on the day the government launched its advert campaign, Sir Ian Blair said: "To parents it is tough love time. In addition to conversations about drink, drugs and relationships there are now conversations about knives."

The Home Office said it wanted children who carry knives to see what could happen if a weapon was turned on them.

Minister Vernon Coaker said that the new adverts' message was conveyed by young people the same age as would-be victims to maximise their impact.

He added: "We know that many young people carry a knife because they are fearful and these adverts tell powerful stories about the dangers of going down that path.

"People have got to get the message that if they carry a knife, there's more chance of it being used against them."

The campaign is being launched after a spate of stabbings of young people. Most recently, 18-year-old Rob Knox was murdered outside a pub in Sidcup, south-east London.

If you carry a knife you're more likely to get stabbed yourself... because you must have a reason to be carrying a fucking knife to begin with.

If gramma is carrying a knife I don't think it's gonna increase her chances of getting stabbed. People don't just walk up to random strangers and stab them.

Its a new viral marketing campaign in the UK to combat their recent extreme rise in violent crime. Most of which is related to crimes with knives or hand weapons. The message is that if you carry a knife your more likely to have it used against you, and that the police have begun cracking down on violent crime in a 1984-esq manner of random stop and searches, and various abilities to detain people on their way.

So in the UK they can legally search you without cause just to check if you're carrying a knife on you? Does that mean it's illegal to carry a knife on you too?  :pirate: Fuck those pigs.

If they suspect anything of you, you can be searched... They don't need probable cause. We don't have the right to refuse a search here either.. if you refuse, they take you down the station and strip search ya.

Most of my mates have been busted for 'looking sketchy' and I've been searched several times for being 'in an area known drug use'.

It just means we have to think of more elaborate ways to stash our drugs / other illegal items. A properly secured 'crotch bag' is a good method, although the pigs are starting to catch on to this one.

What I do these days is if I'm doing something suspicious (like blazing in a park) then I stash anything illegal I got on me in litter or in a bush / up a tree etc... But this doesn't work if they randomly stop you in town.

Certainly there's gotta be regulations on knives though, not just all knives. You can't be carrying a pocket knife, or even just a kitchen knife? Fuck the UK man, the U.S. can blow me too, but both sound like shit hole conservative police states.

Folded blades under 3 inches are legal to carry. Anything else is illegal unless you've got "lawful authority or good reason" but of course is still considered an offensive weapon if used improperly.

We've got the same regulations here in Canada. The main idea is to make knives with easier access or bigger blades illegal. It's not very effective.

My larger concern rises from the police being able to search and detain citizens at their whim, combined with the massive increases in public surveillance in the country since the early 90's

uk is a police state

the police have expanded their state powers

thus, this expansion of police abilities in a police state qualify it as police state news.

but lets focus on the topic, not going off topic about a title.
