Scott Ritter on why america is so crazy

Now, he talks positively of the UK media, but the propoganda machine here is far more slicker, more subtle, and far less keen on the truth. http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/383.html
Quote:
You're only as sane as the information you receive The US has - hands down - the most propagandized population in the world.
Even people in North Korea have a firmer grasp of reality.
Why is this so?
It's the news media. They've mastered the art of reporting nothing and making it seem like it's something.
They're also very creative and convincing first class liars. Kind of like Bush Republicans.
What's the solution?
Scott Ritter has an answer and thanks to the Internet, more and more people in the US are breaking free of the info-lock.
-------------------- In times of universal deceit, the truth becomes a revolutionary act.

I dont know, nor do I care who Scott Ritter is... but that quote is completely ridiculous.
Face it, people have different opinions than you. And just because they do doesn't mean they are 'propagandized'. You're pathetic.
-------------------- Behold yon miserable creature. That Point is a Being like ourselves, but confined to the non-dimensional Gulf. He is himself his own World, his own Universe; of any other than himself he can form no conception; he knows not Length, nor Breadth, nor Height, for he has had no experience of them; he has no cognizance even of the number Two; nor has he a thought of Plurality; for he is himself his One and All, being really Nothing. Yet mark his perfect self-contentment, and hence learn his lesson, that to be self-contented is to be vile and ignorant, and that to aspire is better than to be blindly and impotently happy.

Don't know who he is, but I agree with what he said.
I loved the Springtime in New York analgoy, since I didn't see where he was goign with it until he brought it together, and then of course it's the perfect mental picture.

... which means?
He's not advocating avoiding propaganda, he's advocating taking an aggresive mental stance on interpreting it. That seems entirely appropriate.

Whether you're right, left, or in between, it doesn't matter. The media isn't telling the whole truth. If they did, they'd play real video, not sound bytes that are usually taken out of context completely. They aren't outright lying (it's not like they're saying something happened that didn't), but they're still just making MONEY in the end. Unfortunately, with people being all ADD these days, that means cheap, watered down news. Like Budweiser beer.
As far as the quote, I agree with DieCommie. North Koreans are the most brainwashed people in the world, they don't have a fuicking clue what's going on except that "our dear leader" is looking out for their best interests. How can he be- he's a MADMAN. If that man lived in America, he'd be in a MENTAL HOSPITAL. And he controls EVERYTHING, media included. Do you seriously think that they're more informed than the U.S. is? The U.S., where EVERYONE, including HOMELESS PEOPLE, can go to a library and get more or less UNRESTRICTED internet access and talk to people ALL OVER THE WORLD?
I'll tell you what that quote is: it's hyperbole. Just like the media is usually. People can't explain their beliefs in a rational, logical way, so they have to make issues a thousand times bigger than they are with wild exaggerations.

Scott Ritter was some guy who worked with the United Nations inspecting Iraqi WMD's. Eventually, the Iraqis became concerned that the UN inspectors would use knowledge gained from these inspections to plan military operations, so they got kicked out.
Then Bill Clinton decided to bomb Iraq. Unfortunately, he pussied out on FINISHING the job, which left us with a really fucking angry Iraqi dictator who still had most of his military capabilities. The whole situation was similar to someone seeing a wasp nest on a playground, and instead of destroying it, kicking it so the wasps come out and sting everyone.
But NOBODY knows that shit. NOBODY knows that if Bill Clinton hadn't been a PUSSY, we would be done with this war by now. But no, he just couldn't go the distance. And then Iraq was like "fuck no" when we wanted to inspect again. And why wouldn't they be- last time they let the UN inspect their country, they got bombed and had the information gained in those inspections used against them.
But yeah, Scott Ritter, kind of a loose nut in my opinion, but I think he's just trying to do what he thinks is right in the end.

I hereby nominate this as the most amazingly ignorant thing I've read on the Shroomery forums in quite some time.

And who is the OP quoting? Himself, maybe? Just putting something in quotes doesn't make it important or valid, lol.

It doesn't really matter who said it. It's there and it's flat out ridiculous.
