 Opium Tincture

So, I'm trying to make some homemade laudanum from some pods. I know this won't be real 'laudanum', but its going to be opium dissolved in high proof alcohol, so there ya go.
I'm reading recipes, but most of them seem to be for people trying to obtain smokeable products, or injectable products. I'm not trying to do either. I just want to get as many alkaloids dissolved into the alcohol as possible.
I dumped a bunch of grounds into a jar of 151, shook it several times and let it sit overnight. Its black now, I mean vile looking.
I was planning on straining it and putting the jar into a pot of water and heating it on low heat to evaporate some of the alcohol off.
In these recipes I'm seeing people adding all kinds of chemicals, from vinegar and citric acid to calcium compounds and other crap like that. Adjusting the pH up and down, and I think thats beyond what I'm trying to do.
If there are some easy steps to make it more potent, like adding some lemon juice, well then fine. If anyone can direct me to a clear recipe where the steps go a little further, as long as no chemistry based language is being used, I'll be ok. I just don't do so well in chem, and don't understand when they start busting out technical terms.
ANY help is appreciated.

Since dried pods can be used for tea, and with all these extraction methods I've skimmed for dried pods, I'm guessing dried pods will work too.

Doesn't anyone know anything about this?
I just decided to filter and then evaporate some of the alcohol off. I'd say about half has evaporated so far, but I'm gonna shoot for some more before i try it.

Ok, thanks.
In all these teks they were raising the pH and then adding acids to make precipitates form, and converting morphine into its salt form and all that, but you had to get the pH just right or else the morphine would oxidate, or break down into pseudomorphine or something like that...
it seemed like a lot of work, which I don't mind, but this time I just wanted something simple and easy without crazy loss of chems.
