I'm pretty sure media player doesn't support .shn. Yes you have to manually convert them to a format your music player supports.

Yes. The majority of bootlegs in the bootlegging community are in lossless format, for posterity's sake I guess. Sometomes you'll get .shn files, sometimes .ape but mostly .flac, which I prefer.
And yeah, got to convert them if your mp3 player doesn't support those files.

I wish my ipod supported .Flac. I'd encode all my songs to the format in a flash if it did

You can flash your ipod to http://www.rockbox.org/ and the it'll play FLAC and tons of other more used codecs.

I think you would be going to .wav which is very popular and used more on devices.
http://wiki.etree.org/index.php?page=HowToBurn
read there. You aren't converting your SHN you are extracting .wav from them.
Quote:
Uncompressing is the first big step. You need to take the SHN files an turn them into WAV files which you can burn. If you are using Microsoft Windows, the easiest tool for doing this is mkwACT (see SoftwareYouNeed). You can just drop a folder of SHNs onto the mkwACT window and it will check them and then uncompress them to your default extraction folder.

Hope i've helped.

db poweramp is a great program. After you install it, install the .shn codec and any other codec you use. I believe you get a trial period to convert to mp3 but everything else is free to use. You can probably find a torrent of the full program if you look.

I concur. Best converting program available. It does everything. Crack it if you have to.
