Snoring
    #8291585 - 04/16/08 01:26 PM (7 months, 13 days ago)

So my roommate snores. Loudly. It sucks, and I'm not sleeping very well because of it. I've mentioned it to him and he's not willing to do much about it. Do you know of any good ways to deal with snoring, either for me or for him?

I suggested he could get those strips you put on your nose, and he said, if I wanted to buy him some, he'd wear them. I don't think that's really fair...he should be buying his own strips. What do you think, is it fair for him to make me buy them?

Making the noise "penicillin" is no substitute for actually taking penicillin.

I'd make him buy the strips. It's not fair to you. If he doesn't, violence is surely the answer.

Voice of experience here. Wax swimmer's earplugs. Get them at any drug store; $5.00 for a pack of five pairs. You can reuse them many times until they get gross. Super comfortable and you can sleep through a tornado.

Buy them yourself; it's your good night's sleep and your roomie can't help that he snores.

Peace,
SB

I say get over it, it's something that naturally happens. If you feel so strong about the situation then YOU buy the strips. Don't mean to be a dick but com'on dude. Where does you're roommate sleep that its so loud you can hear it while you sleep?

Don't you guys have doors?. If it's able to go through a door and bother you're sleep schedule then thats fucking loud. I'm sure if you bug him enough he might try and do something about it.

You ever tried sleeping with a radio?

Man up and get your own place till then STFU. On the upside, if you ever flip out and choke him to death, you can always blame sleep apnea.

Yeah he sleeps in the same room as me, which is small as hell, so he's about 10 feet away from me, and it's LOUD.

And this IS my place...I've been living here for about 8 months, and he just moved in a couple weeks ago.

I've got one of those noise machines that makes white noise, which helps a little, but he usually snores right over it.

i agree with sillybuttons and say you get some earplugs.
havent used that brand myself, but the more comfortable the better.

i find with earplugs i go to sleep faster and have a better rest.
but yeah get the most comfortable ones you can get.

next time he snores and wakes you up, throw a shoe at his nards then act like you're still sleeping. when he wakes up and asks what the fuck happened just play dumb.

repeat everynight until cured.

if your roommate is a woman. use a softball instead of a shoe.

I had a similar problem in the place I was renting when I was in college. Only it was the next door neighbors. It was really loud.
