VA sucks. They were one of the first and only to ban radar detectors. I got shaken down by VA Beach cops for slowly and casually skate boarding my way down the boardwalk ten years or more ago. I'm surprised they haven't gone for sally before now to be honest.

I can't stand politicians. It's not like salvia is going to make you go apeshit and kill 100 people so who cares? I hope NY isn't next to ban it.

On February 10, 2005, New York State Assembly Member Carl Heastie (D) introduced Assembly Bill 4412-A. This bill died without coming up for a vote, but if enacted, it would have made possession of Salvia divinorum a crime punishable by a $50 fine. On April 18, 2005, New York State Senator John Flanagan (R) introduced Senate Bill 4987. If enacted, this bill would amend the General Business Law to prohibit the sale of Salvia divinorum, and would subject violators to a civil penalty of up to $500. On June 6, 2005, the senate voted to pass the bill. Assemblyman Daniel O’Donnell (D) introduced an identical bill, designated Assembly Bill 11469, to the State Assembly on May 23, 2006. That bill died without coming up for a vote. Efforts to enact this legislation were renewed the following year. On January 3, 2007, Assemblyman O’Donnell reintroduced it as Assembly Bill 610. On January 8, 2007, it was reintroduced by Senators Flanagan, John DeFrancisco (R), Thomas Morahan (R), and Frank Padavan (R) as Senate Bill 695. On February 8, 2007, the bill passed in the senate (ayes: 58, nays: 0). It is now being considered by the State Assembly.

I know this is about Virginia. But does anyone know the status of it in Ohio, I know they were trying to pass a bill a year or two but I can't find what ever happened to it.

Another state banning Salvia? Im worried with all the media attention that Salvia is currently getting that it might be banned here in the UK soon enough.
I might need to go out and stock up when the day comes so i have enough to keep me going for a couple years!

On May 9, 2007, Representative Thom Collier (R) introduced House Bill 215 to the Ohio State Legislature. If passed, this legislation would make Salvia divinorum a Schedule I controlled substance in that state. The text of the bill only mentions Salvia divinorum. Salvinorin A is not mentioned.HERE

Since 2005, Missouri, Delaware, North Dakota and Illinois have banned salvia outright by classifying it as a Schedule I hallucinogen, putting it in the same category as heroin, LSD, marijuana and ecstasy.
Quote:
under the Illinois law that took effect Jan. 1, possession of salvia is punishable by up to three years in prison.
Quote:
Virginia's governor on Sunday (March 2) signed a similar bill into law, which takes effect July 1.
Quote:
In Maine, for example, it’s illegal for anyone under 18 to possess or use the drug. In Oklahoma, it is illegal to have salvia if it is “enhanced, concentrated or chemically or physically altered” — a law aimed at potent salvia extracts. In Tennessee and Louisiana, it is legal to grow salvia for landscaping or aesthetic purposes, but not for consumption.
Quote:
Bills to ban or regulate salvia are being considered in many other states, including Alabama, Alaska, California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Wyoming and Wisconsin. On Feb. 11, the New York Senate passed a bill prohibiting the sale of salvia.
Rogene Waite, a DEA spokeswoman, said the agency is studying whether salvia should be declared a Schedule I drug at the federal level. If so, it would be considered a controlled substance in every state, she said. Also, sending it by mail would then be prohibited.

Ohio had a bill that was created to ban it but it's been almost a year and nothing so far.
