 Getting busted with weed in Canada

I don't know of anyone at all that has gotten charged for possessing dope here in Canada (cept for large scale grows). I know of lots of people that have gotten busted and the cops usually take the shit and thats where it ends.
Just kinda wondering if anyone here has actually gotten charged for anything under an ounce in Canada???

Nope.
My friend got charged with possesion because he had a dime on him... which I never understood... it had something to do with the cops thinking he was a drug dealer (and he actualy was the the time, by coincidence), but his laywer, James Burlkey - Attorney at Law, took care of that little incident with no problems.

under an ounce, regardless of what you may believe, it is illegal to posess weed in canada, and just like in the US, some cops will bust you, some wont.

Stories abound on the internet of smokers in Canada being let go by the cops, dealers being given probation (if that), and large scale growers being given slaps on the wrist. All of us Americans have this impression that Canadian authorities just don't give a fuck about weed and the people who sell or grow it.
But, I have heard that the penalties are stiffening. I guess the big time growers (guys who run several house grow-ops) are getting slammed with harder jailtime.

Exact. Most of the cops don't care about weed smokers, what they want are the mass growers, especially in the Nord du Québec and other fieldy regions elsewhere in Canada where there are countless fields, as vast as you can imagine. They send copters scouting the area, takings photographs of those fields, then they use a special light balance in the picture to identify "suspect vegetation".
I must also approve the guy that said that cops just take away a small quantity. It already happened to me and my friends, cops cornered us in a schoolyard while we were smoking some hash. They just told us we weren't allowed to do that and asked if they could have whatever drugs we had. We had no choice than being honest, so we gave them the hash and they went away. It sucked being out of hash in an instant, but hey, if we lived in the USA I would be in jail right now.

they use FLIR, forward looking infra-red cameras, I have those whirly birds over
my house at least twice a day, at least here in the US they can spot it with
FLIR but they cant just come arrest you, they have to find some way within the
law to walk onto your property, and see it with the naked eye, that means they

it holds true in the US as well and just like with canada, it depends on your
attitude and the cops, I've been caught several times with weed and half the
time I got to keep the weed and have never been locked up for any drugs.
