 Good excuse for calling off work

I can't go to work tomorrow. I have more important things to do. It's not a matter of irresponsibility, but they won't understand. I need a good excuse to use to call in that will still allow me to work the next day. Preferably no ailments that I have to pseudo-fake when I get back.

Next time just find someone to cover your shift and avoid the whole problem.

then offer to come in, and show up with a can of vegetable soup in your mouth 
that will get you off for at least a week, make sure to make yourslef look all sweaty first

Here's what you do. Go to a gas station. Let the air out of your tires. Take a picture. Call work and say you got a flat tire. Reinflate the tire. Get a copy of the picture, give it to them the next day at work.

If it were only that easy. I actually picked this shift up because my coworker is going out of town and no one else was available to work the shift. I lost track of what day of the month it was and just realized today that I had this shit to do tommorow. She's already out of town and I've claimed responsiblity for the shift (in writing).
I think the only option here is to quit  . Really, I think I'm just going to say something along the lines of "It's a personal issue and I don't feel comfortable discussing the specifics."

Call in with some surgery that you have to have. I told my job I was having something done on my thyroid and just moved across country. They called two weeks later and was like "Where you at man?" I told them I was having "complications" and I had to move in with some family to help me. They said I still had a job when I get back
