This is off topic though.

If you can't concentrate at what the teacher is saying for whatever reason. It doesn't really matter what the reason is, you might just be completely uninterested in what the teacher is saying. But none the less some doctor will label you ADD.

Its a bunch BS, its a made up thing.
it has to do with your brain developing. Since kids are brought up on TV, video games, and computers their brains devlop differently than those who weren't. they have shorter attention spans. People with ADD apparently can process lots of data much quicker than those without, but take data in at a slower rate.
Its only called a disorder because those who made up the name, didn't have it, but what it really is, is just humans forming a symbiosis with their digital enviorment.
its really sad, they have all kinds of drugs to make the brain NOT work the way it was developed to so that kids can continue to be uniformly educated like in the past. these drugs(ritalin, aderol(sp?), etc have terrable side effects (i should know)

wow.....good explanation....but theres also ADHD....Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder....so that would basically be someone that's raised in the digital enviroment, but just took too many flintstone vitamins perhaps?

Basically I said that if you can't concentrate on the teacher, chances are some doctors will disagnose you as ADD. You might just not be interested in what the teacher is saying, but no matter what the reason is, you can be ADD. I am ADD, I got the ritalin to proove it.
I quit doing ritalin though. I have to admit it can help with concentration, but it should only be taken on occasion in my opinion.

well i disagree with the fakeness of it. I personally think i have it. I can concentrate on stuff sometimes, but for no more than 20 minutes. Video games are different because the envoronment is constantly changing so you not really concentrating on the same thing. I procrastinate like hell. If it is not something that i thouroughly enjoy doing theni will put it off for as long as i can if i can bring myself to do it at all. People try to say wtf just do it and get it overwith and i think the same thing, but its not like i have a choice....i just cant do it...its like i jsut cant bring myself too. It feel like im just throwing my head againts a brick wall...i dont understand it myself. I think most people are misdiagnoes.
My friend takes adderal and says he feels like hes on speed like meth or something so i was like give me some. When i took 30 mg i jsut felt normal, the only difference i felt was that i wasent lazy and could bring myself to do stuff....but in no since did i feel like i was on a stimulant. He thought i was crazy but i just think that i need somethign like that. Im currently going to a doctor to get evaluated and such to see exactly waht i need.
And its not just the younger generation that has this. I know doctors and lawyers that are as old as my dad that have this same thing....none of the stimulant type medications would work for adults but the new drug straterra is supposed to work for adults.

believe it or not, my man "radioactiveslug" is actually on to something... He's exactly right, and i will fill in the little he left out. Most medications prescribed to you by doctors for ADD just slows down your neurological receptors helping you "calm down and think." this is why most of the tests you see will keep asking questions consistent with "are you usually jittery and can't sit still?". yeah, anti depressents have exactly the opposite effect, speeding up your receptors etc. of course, that's not the only thing it does, but that's the jest of it. but yeah, that's about it...

but yeah, ADD (ADHD) is just a blanket diagnosis, and all the medications are blanket medications... itsa bunch of dumb shit based on theories... this is fine, but remember: In THEORY communism works... nuff said

i still dissagree...im not jittery or anything like that...i im lazy..i sit still for as long as possible
but anyway if they give me medicine that makes my life easier then i dont give a damn if it is a coverup...this shit sucks..i feel like its ruining my life...and when i take the medicine its so much better...iu can actually get stuff done instead of doing everything esle beside the stuff i need to do.

I don't really remember, they never gave me any tests at all. My school told the doctor I had trouble concentrating and I was fidgety. Then a doctor(asshole) put me on ritalin. Just stopped taking it last year in grade 10, I had been taking it since grade 1.

They are so quick to diagnose people with these "man made" disorders. To me it is discusting.. Its a money game. Stay away from the meds man.

It has to do with how long you can concentrate for. A lot of people have it, and if you can't fit into the structured school system they like to prescribe you things.

I probably have it...but meh whatever. I don't think it's a disorder.
Like, at work, there was a meeting. The boss was going on and on...and it seems I can't concentrate on what he is saying, take it in, and understand it. Like I only hear certain words. And then I have to try and put together what I heard/understood and figure out what he's talking about. Sometimes it is frustrating....but it's not all that bad. Let's just say...you can still live comfortably with it. It's not a disorder and there is no need for medication.
As a side note...when I was using mushrooms....for weeks after a mushroom trip....this would go away. Everything was so "clear".

The test is just a set of questions that are asked, and the result depends on the answers.
It's silly, really.
I have ADD, they say.
So how do you like that? They label me with a term, and I get to go buy amphetamines in return.

Like a splinter in your mind...
Driving you mad.
