 Yellow Submarine parody used in commercial

Last night I saw a commercial that was a parody of a scene from The Beatles classic psychedelic movie Yellow Submarine. They used the song "All Together Now", which was written just for the movie, except that some unknown lame was singing it. The commercial used Yellow Submarine font, and tried it's best to incorporate it's message into the parody. It wasn't an obvious parody either. If you hadn't seen Yellow Submarine, you wouldn't get the reference.
I don't know what to think about this. I really really?hate to see Beatles songs used in commercials and whatnot, because I know The Beatles had too much integrity to ever sell out like that. Since Michael Jackson and Sony own the Beatles songs though, anything is for sale. I've seen many many?commercials, TV shows and movies that have used Beatles songs, but this one made me a little angrier.
Watching Yellow Submarine on acid is a religious experience. The messages that were put in that movie were a call for revolution. It's brilliant the way that The Beatles tried to convey very adult ideas by using simplistic and even childish sounding songs(see lyrics for "All Together Now" below). Yellow Submarine is like one big profound political message disguised as a kids cartoon. I remember watching that movie and feeling like God was telling the whole world "ok, all together now" through the song.
Having said that, there are two ways i'm looking at that commercial. It sucks that some company is cheapening something that to me is quite religious, but at the same time it's a reminder of the movie for those who have seen it. I don't know what to think. I know nothing is sacred anymore, but it still pisses me off. Hollywood and Madison Avenue need to lay off The Beatles unless it causes more people to become aware of their great message.

Well, I'm going to buy the dvd this weekend. I haven't watched it on acid ever. Something I've wanted to do for SOO long.

I love that song. Michael Jackson might have to sell the beatles, maybe if we pool our money with Paul and Yoko we can buy them! The last time I watched that movie it was with my former sister in law who ate 2.3 grams of b+ including abhorts. After we watched it we decided to go for a walk and she had a hard time navigating the stairs. She said she needed to puke and I knew she would but I told her it was just her head but she barfed on a wall. Then her boyfriend came and we went to the park and played like children. It was a good night. I think my mother in law stole my copy of that movie. I like it when the policeman says here pussy pussy pussy! I like all of the beatles movies, I was raised on them and their music...
my parents are beatles fanatics... 
oh yeah also leary said the beatles are like todays apostles carrying the message or something along those lines! I think it's in the politics of ecstasy but can't remember...../me scratches noggin

Yup. Thats pretty brilliant. I'm not being sarcastic. A detailed analysis? Ok. The child's song used as a template "1 2 3 4 (something that rhymes with four) 5 6 7 8 (something that rhymes with 8). But the lyric writing breaks down, the template just isn't working, and in exasperation the songwriter just utters what they feel. Beautiful

Yeah, i've read something from Leary where he says something like "people think i'm the leader of the psychedelic revolution, but the real leaders are The Beatles.". I forget where I read it though.
Spiffy: Magical Mystery Tour is out of print. If you go to amazon, people are selling them for no less than $37.99 each! www.half.com has it for $42.90! I don't think so. I put off buying it when it was in print because I always thought they'd re-release it. Now i'm not so sure.

Can you get it on DVD at all? even second hand...
Id have thought theres eneough demand for it to be re-released, its the beatles for goods sakes.

Yeah you can get it on DVD. Those were the prices that I listed. Amazon has it on DVD for no less than $37.99.
I think I just bought a copy on ebay for $13.90 after shipping! I went to check on the prices, and there was one that was used("played 1-2 times") for about $5.00. After shipping it's $13.90. The reason I say "I think I bought it" is because the e-mail address I use for EBAY isn't in service anymore. I told the guy to e-mail me at my hotmail address. If he does, then I guess i'll send him a check and it'll be official!

If you are a fan of The Beatles it is at least entertaining to watch (I give it two thumbs up for the randomness), but if you aren't, you probably will hate it. The music video sections are definately the highlights of the movie! I have it on VHS but a DVD would be a must for this colorful movie.
Learyfan - I liked it and I bet you would also...(especially the footage of a really drunk Ringo)

The Beatles were a better band, but I totally prefer the Monkee's movie Head. They're all the same genre and produced as mind candy, the Monkees one is better though.
