So whats with all that "MAAAARRY" stuff on In Utero?
And the angel lookalike on the front cover.
The line "hanging around on clouds".
The bit about never having a father, just a dad.
Hmm also covering "jesus dont want me for a sunbeam" and "man who sold the world" on that unplugged thing.

That's cuz Kurt always hated his dad ever since his parents got divorced.
I think Kurt was raised Catholic, and he might have stayed Catholic his whole life, although he was strongly pro-choice, so I'm not sure about that. Actually, come to think of it, at some point he announced he had become a Buddhist, hence the name Nirvana.

The man who sold the world is a Bowie cover...As for the reference's back to jesus, and christianity, I'd say maybe he was brought up around it all, some people just tend to have that in there life....

I really have trouble buying that. If you listen to the rest of the song, that interpretation of "father" doesn't really hold up.

From what I read on the lyrics, it's an emotional expression exploring the concept of a man who sold the world.

Kurt's music was overpopular. It isn't that great. And I hate that 'feel sorry for me, I'm so depressed' shit. What he wanted was what he got, and then he was against that. I'm glad he killed himself in a way. What a dumbass.
