A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines. With consistency a great soul has simply nothing to do. He may as well concern himself with his shadow on the wall. Speak what you think now in hard words, and to-morrow speak what to-morrow thinks in hard words again, though it contradict every thing you said to-day. -- `Ah, so you shall be sure to be misunderstood.' -- Is it so bad, then, to be misunderstood? Pythagoras was misunderstood, and Socrates, and Jesus, and Luther, and Copernicus, and Galileo, and Newton, and every pure and wise spirit that ever took flesh. To be great is to be misunderstood.

Maybe you should learn what subjective means.

I'm well aware of what subjectivity means. I'm also aware of what being viewed as a fuck-bag means, and it's disgusting. If your 'subjective experience' of joking about sexual violence against women is positive, than your 'subjective experience' is a product of a twisted, patriarchal culture and I have little respect for anyone who makes no attempt to recognize and challenge that. Whether or not one enjoys a rape is pretty subjective, one side enjoys it and the other doesn't, I guess that makes it pretty hard to determine whose opinion is more valid.

No, you said it wasn't funny. I was saying that's subjective. Please don't go off on unnecessary tangents. Too bad you don't respect me even though you don't know much about me at all Feminists

Except that it's not an unnecessary tangent... it is a tangent that explains exactly why that joke was not funny, and why 'subjectivity' is not a relevant argument in favor of such a joke being acceptable.
As for your rolling eyes at my being a feminist, I think Vice Magazine said it best:
"I guess if you're cool with being raped all the time and having no options in life other than being a baby machine or a prostitute, then yeah, you're probably not a feminist...all it means is that you don't hate yourself."

Holy shit... we're only dealing with words here. Real cruelty is something entirely different. I would hate to see your reaction to that.
I think you may benefit from a few minutes of OTD every day.

My reaction to that would likely be appropriately violent, or nurturing, depending on the situation and who I ended up dealing with.
Words are not just words, they are representative of the ideologies people carry with them and they carry a massive weight in the shaping of our perceptions of reality. Sure I'm being a cranky spazz, and this is just an internet forum, but my point still stands.

I say nigger all the time. Two of my closest friends are black. Am I a racist at heart? What a dilemma.
