(NITRO, W.Va.) -- Nitro, West Virginia police had a bizarre drug bust last night while working a traffic stop. Police say a Nitro man handed one of the officers a small bag of marijuana and told them he allegedly bought it the night before and didn't need it.
Lieutenant Joe Savilla says they issued 50-year-old Dennis Fields a possession citation and he left.
Less than two hours later, Savilla says Fields arrived at Nitro police headquarters with two more bags of marijuana to hand over.
Savilla says he then arrested Fields for public intoxication after he allegedly registered a point-two-five-five blood-alcohol level. Fields was also given two more drug citations. Officers then took Fields to a detoxification center.
Savilla says it was one of the stupidest things he's seen in 19 years.
