Man flees police, takes crack-smoking break
A suspect was tracked down by a State Police dog and was found leaning against a tree smoking crack.
State Police say it happened Saturday evening along Interstate 81 in the town of Ellisburg.
Troopers say they initiated a traffic stop in the northbound lane. A passenger, 39 year old Raymond Sprague, of Pennellville bolted from the car and fled into a wooded area.
Troopers called in their K-9, Ram. Ram and his handler, trooper John Poggi tracked Sprague to a location about 750 feet off the interstate.
When they caught up with him, Sprague was leaning against a tree, smoking crack cocaine, troopers said.
Sprague was taken into custody without incident and charged with crack cocaine and marijuana possession.
