amendment 44, for legalalization of up to one ounce for persons 21 and older got shot down yesterday at the polls. what happened? did potheads forget to come out and vote?

Thats closer than it was last time (in nevada), and it will definatly be on the ballot again in the future. I think it will pass at some point.

Just wait for a few more old people to keel over... As heartless as that sounds, far too many people were caught up in the old propaganda movements, as opposed to a little less of the younger crowd. Imagine, 30 years ago these ideas wouldn't have even been talked about in a state legislature, much less put on a ballot, and much much less almost split down the middle by the represented 'public.' It will come to be.

I completley agree with that. I've lived in this state all my life, and it's very easy to see the trend we're taking towards marijuana. I feel sometime in the future, if not the next election, we may very well pass this bill.
Sadly, the huge lines on college campuses I believe had a major part in it. I know tons of college kids who didn't vote just because they didn't have the time... and that's where the majority of the yes votes come from.

well i mean come on you see all these local fucks out their saying VOTE FOR DICK FACE FOR DEA!!! when prohibition for weed is on the ballots we need people out their doing the same thing! im sure noone was publicly promoting that topic, one thing stoners dont do is organize thats why i thank god for NORML members and other activist who publicly speak, we need to publicy ralley and support b4 the election to insure that people know to get their ass down their and VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! all the young people if they dont vote for nothing else vote for the prohibition topic, hand flyers out to senior at highschools (for seniors) COLLEGES, and locally to ensure this, it really makes me sick to know where in the LAND OF THE FREE but i cant smoke a plant or take a freaking mushroom.... i mean jesus think about it! 18 years old, old enough to die for your country, old enough to vote on a president, but CANT DRINK or even GO INTO A BAR, CANT SMOKE WEED, and CANT CONSUME MUSHROOMS OR EVEN CULTIVATE... seems as if sorry for my language THEY GOT US FUCKed UP

i agree with a lot of the viewpoints here.they shoulda let the voters know.  next time they should make a huge deal about it, and spend $$$ to advertise in order to inform people about the backwards legislation that is marijuana law, and the nonviolent people it causes to suffer.

yeah but it wont happen, i mean in no way in hell will the government promote something thats sold and not taxed. and even if it was sold and taxed its already waaaaay too popular so no one would buy the taxed stuff unless they sold it WAY CHEAP and it was WAAAY GOOD and had variety, how i dream of the day where i can send my wife to go get a couple of boxes of purple koosh, sweet tooth and blue berry!

There actually was quite a few people out promoting this measure before the election and on the day of.....
I saw a few debates about it at my school and saw some people out waving signs around and the like on my way to vote!
The lines did suck ass..... I had to wait in line for 1 1/2..... but it was worth it to voice my opinion on the ganj.....
Colorado dissapointed me with our votes in general..... we also made gay marriage completely illegal and denied gays all rights associated with a domestic partnership......
Guess once you get out of the cities Colorado isn't as liberal as it sometimes seems

the 18-26 year olds voted like 65% yes!!!.. democrats voted 60% or so yes repubs like 70% no..

I haven't read anything about how it would be distributed if it passed. Would that still be underground? Or could you like set up a table on the street and put little baggies of pot all over it with price tags on them and just sell publicly to however? that's a dramatization of course, but you see my point?

I didn't think those two measures would pass, but I am encouraged by the numbers who said yes to them. Better than 40% in both cases.
