Mom arrested for letting child smoke pot

ANGLETON, TX - A 22-year-old mother accused of allowing her daughter access to marijuana, which the 5 year old reportedly smoked, has been arrested by Angleton police on an endangering a child charge.
Angleton Police Detective David Steves said Amanda Williams was arrested Friday afternoon for the state jail felony charge. She remained in the Brazoria County Detention Center in lieu of $7,500 bond.

Texas? You mean that big state where they execute retards? The shoot first, ask questions later state? I'd figure they'd just bust the little girl and railroad her to the pen. [end sarcasm...]
Anyway, this is more classic bad journalism. The headline implies that the woman practically handed the joint to her, but what I really think they mean is that she left her stash and pipe on the coffee table. My guess is there's no drug test proving that the girl smoked it.

Some religious groups use pot in their ceremonies in which their young kids participate; the Zion Coptics, for example.

not a good idea to use any drugs though before your mind has matured and you're of an adult age

I agree with you, but who are we to make that call for the Zion Coptics?
Jehovah's Witnesses are allowed to let their children die for lack of a blood transfusion; allowing a child to smoke pot seems trivial by comparison.
