May 24, 2007 - The Comet
 A NEW drink containing cannabis has just been given the go-ahead by the Government to be sold in this country.
Steve Mock, 47, who owns distribution company PLD Services on Icknield Way in Letchworth GC, has secured sole rights to importing and selling the drink, C ICE, in the UK.
The Swiss cannabis ice tea advertises a "fantastic natural feeling" on the bright orange can.
It is a black tea with Swiss syrup of hemp blossoms and Swiss extract of hemp blossoms.
But the drink does not contain the psychoactive element of cannabis - tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
"The Swiss grow the cannabis plant specifically for the ice tea and they grow it without THC so you can't get high on it", explained Mr Mock.
"However, it does give people a soothing, mellowing feeling.
"I have a lady who works at a multiple sclerosis society and she has taken it off me to trial it. People have said it's got medical effects."
He added: "It's 100 per cent legal and I have got it approved by the Home Office. I came across it last January and it has taken this long for it to come to fruition.
"It's sold in about 20 other countries with no problem and there's no warning on the can, but there is obviously going to be a lot of controversy with it."
The drink is not readily available yet, but should be making its way to Comet country in the near future.

sounds like a refreshing drink  i wish it contained even alittle thc kinda like coco cola back "in the day"

sounds like a nifty drink. i'd like to try it. but with no THC it had better taste good or i dont think i'd drink it again.

We've had an energy drink labelled Hemp with a pot leaf logo and 420 brand spring water (420mls of course) in New Zealand. Neither of them actually contained hemp though.

Contains no THC? But what about the hundreds of other known active cannabinoids????

well, its a good step towards legalizing real pot, i mean if it has good effect medically that is good, cuz i am sure that thc is then only drug in it that has good effects. but if people relies that pot rly is a wonderful enthobotaical they might say hey....its like the government has ben..LYING but the government probly knows that and wont let it be legal but i might just be a consperitist lol

They say THC isn't in it, and you can bet it's not.
Any relaxing or medicinal effects produced by this beverage would probably be attributable to the tea content (ie. camellia sinensis). Tea contains caffeine, L-Theanine (supposedly a GABAergic drug), and some antioxidant compounds (catechins).

this stuff has been on sale here for quite some time, its just another overpriced ice tea - doesnt even taste that good.
