Texas Trio Arrested in Drug Sting http://community.emeraldcoast.com/panamacity/article.showarticle.db.php?a=7200
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics unit and the State Attorney’s Office investigators arrested three Texas women last week on multiple drug charges.
The trio was arrested after undercover narcotics officers received information about the women attempting to sell Hydrocodone pills and Cocaine.
Investigators made contact and were able to set up a transaction with one of the suspects. According to sheriff's reports, the suspect told the undercover officer she wanted to sell about 400 Hydrocodone pills and some cocaine. She went to the beach location they had agreed upon to complete the deal.
The amount of Hydrocodone that was sold, about 150 grams, constitutes the Trafficking charge, said the report. This charge carries a minimum mandatory sentence of 25 years in prison. Also seized in the bust was a vehicle used in the commission of a felony and $2,500.00 in cash.
Arrests and charges are as follows:
Kendra Lashan Ford, 28, Trafficking more than 28 grams of Hydrocodone Possession of Alprazolam with Intent to Distribute Unlawful Use of a two-way Communication Device Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Sharda Sharquell Brown, 22 Possession of a Controlled Substance (Hydrocodone) Possession of Alprazolam with Intent to Distribute Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Tondra Sharae Hurd, 22 Possession of Marijuana Possession of Drug Paraphernalia ---- WTF is Unlawful Use of a two-way Communication Device ?

I'd be surprised if they had that much hydrocodone. In this case they probably figured the entire weight of the pill into the charge. The article says the suspects had 400 pills to move. 400 pills at about 200 mg each is about 80 grams. I am very saddened to see that these women may receive 25 year sentences for this offense. No one deserves that kind of punishment for trying to help alleviate someones pain.
In regards to the whole two way communication device charge, I imagine the suspect used a cell phone in the commision of this alleged crime. Thats all it takes...

Weigh off on the weight there. 7.5mg per pill for extra strength, try 3 grams of pure hydrocodone assuming they were even extra strength. Talk about bullshit sentencing! Even if it was 150 grams 25 years mandatory is beyond insane. Drugs should be weighed on the active ingerident, especially in the case of pharms. It's bullshit they can weigh the filler. I guess unless you got your hands on the pure shit and were caught with it before ya cut it. The woman probably thought it would be a slap on the wrist for the hydrocodone. Wouldn't doubt if the undercover played it off as he had a bad back and needed them for pain. They really don't have much recreational value.

this was copied from a Florida law, this is NOT the texas law, which is where the offense occured. the reason im posting the florida law is because it's probably fairly the same as texas law.
934.215 Unlawful use of a two-way communications device.—Any person who uses a two-way communications device, including, but not limited to, a portable two-way wireless communications device, to facilitate or further the commission of any felony offense commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
I would think that they were using one of those cheap walmart two-way radios to communicate info about the deal, maybe a lookout.
