4 Rainbow participants arrested on drug, obstruction charges

CLARK — Four members of the Rainbow Family of Living Light were arrested Thursday night on suspicion of possessing psilocybin mushrooms and obstructing police officers.
Routt County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Dan Kelliher said four young men from California and South Carolina reportedly were racing and weaving up Routt County Road 129 near Forest Service Road 550 when U.S. Forest Service officers stopped the men after receiving a report they nearly ran another motorist off the road.
Kelliher said the men, Brandon D. Behnken, 22; Russell Dean Watkins, 22; John Frank Rivero, 21; and Scott David Petersen, 25, locked themselves in the Ford Escort stationwagon they were driving, locked arms and began singing songs, refusing to allow officers to open the doors.
"They were highly uncooperative," Kelliher said. "They refused to succumb to our commands."
Officers broke two of the car's windows, deployed pepper spray and pulled the men from the vehicle, Kelliher said.
Officers also found suspected psilocybin mushrooms, a schedule I controlled substance, on two of the men and marijuana and drug paraphernalia on another.
Behnken, the driver, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a schedule I controlled substance, possessing less than 1 ounce of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and obstructing a police officer. Watkins was charged with possessing a schedule I controlled substance and obstructing a police officer. Rivero and Petersen were arrested on suspicion of obstruction of a police officer.
Behnken and Watkins are being held on a $20,000 bond at the Routt County Jail, and Rivero and Petersen are being held on a $750 bond. The four men are scheduled to appear in Routt County Court at 1 p.m. June 28.

Sounds like four idiots that ended up where they belong, behind bars.
And since when did the Rainbow Family start having members? Did they have Rainbow IDs? Or was the designation based solely on the fact that they had belly buttons?

get fucked by the pigs? Are you fucking kidding me? Did you miss the part about them almost driving someone off the road and generally driving like assholes?
While i don't agree with the use of violence against a non violent protest, i do believe the officers were doing the right thing in arresting these assholes. A big part of using drugs is responsibility and obviously these idiot's didn't have any.

im sure cops do invent reasons to arrest people but you are defending people who knowingly broke the law... i dont care if your affliated with AARP and are the sweetest grandma on the fuckin planet bringing me cookies and milk, you get busted with shrooms and pot you fucked up, pure and simple, if they had busted these Rainbow boys with nothin at all they would be laughing right now and forming some dumbshit protest, Ezy-E said it best "thats what you get for fuckin with the police"

So you believe that illegally using drugs is actually wrong or something?
I say it's wrong of them to take them away, and if your only charges are drug charges, you're an innocent man.

I don't think that anyone should drive under the influence of any substance. Serves them right. No matter how well you think you can drive, you're a liability to yourself and to others.

Good twist on my words there but no, i don't Believe there wrong, in the US when you get pulled over and pulled out your car because your in the rainbow brotherhood, your hats sideways, you got a hatchetman in your back window, what ever... and your holding, you fucked up, and that is whats going to happen to you. The cops in my neighborhood that i grew up in know me, so i dont go there holding because just on sight i might get fucked, its wrong but its the way of the world, quit acting so surprised. Lesson for today: don't do any drugs and drive and dont be caught being a rainbow boy while holding, those fuckers ever heard of incognito?

It's a belief though. "Be the change you want to see in the world". Personally I would love to go back to a time when no one cared if you ingested a plant or fungus.
