Secret drug lab 'biggest of its kind'

A SECRET drug laboratory found by police in Sydney's north-west is the largest uncovered in Australia, authorities say.
Police seized ecstasy worth $1.6 million from the clandestine lab in Riverstone on Wednesday.
Fire crews were called to a factory complex in Wellington Road about 4.20pm (AEDT), after smoke was seen coming from a unit, police said.
Fire-fighters discovered a large amount of equipment inside believed to be used in the manufacture of prohibited drugs.
State Crime Command Drug Squad Detective Paul Willingham said the lab was the biggest to be uncovered in the country.
"At the scene we have found more than 400 litres of reaction mixture containing the drug MDMA that would have gone on to produce $100 million of street-level prohibited drug," he said in a statement.
Quakers Hill police sent to examine the scene found 6.5kg of ecstasy in powder form, worth an estimated potential street value of $5.2 million.
Forensic experts and the drug squad today continued to examine the scene.
Due to the size of the lab it could take several days for investigators to complete examining the scene, Detective Inspector Willingham said.

Yeah over here ectstasy is huge. I think i read a few months ago that we are the biggest users of ectsasy per capita in the world.

given that extasy is cheaper in the UK and Au, starting at about $1US per pill,
the US if far from the leader in consumption, we pay $15-$30 per pill.
