Shroom Hunting Lessons Learned

I found out today... that things arent what they appear to be. It could look like a mushroom, but be a GIANT-ass spider that scares the shit out of you, causing you to flail around the field screaming "OH SHIT!."
(My intention was to start a thread with various lessons learned so that others will not make the same mistake that we made. NEVER again will I even touch a "mushroom looking object" without first analyzing that it IS in fact.. a mushroom.
It looked like a smallish mushroom, so I decided to pick it up; then, the object was jerked from my hand. I had in fact attempted to steal a spider egg from its owner. (For picture purposes, the egg was about 1 1/2 in. diameter)
I suppose another lesson is that we must always scrutinize the situation before acting; especially, with mushrooms.

A few pictures I took of a very cool shroom. I thought the bruising where my fingers touched it looked wicked. (Found in my yard. How cool is that?)

That's around 40 min. away. Northwest of where I live. (October's the month of my birthday. Will be quite trashed. Don't know whether it'll be gel-tabs or what. Regardless, trashed. )

When mushroom hunting I always walk into spider webs, always.
Another slightly related thing, now that I have an eye for fungi I see it's shape everywhere. I was at the bowling alley and there was a picture of a little man holding a giant hamburger and they looked like a mushroom together, I caught it out of the corner of my eye. My point is, anything that is slightly shaped like any fungi I've seen my eyes try to pick it out, even when I'm at the bowling alley!

haha I hate those spider webs. When I hunt in the woods I hold a stick in front of my face so I don't walk through them and get them in my mouth.

yeah, I often walk with my hand in front of me, sometimes waving. I bet I look mad! I end up wiping them off my face every couple minutes anyway...aggravating. Oh well, I'm the one intruding. I've yet to be bit though, but I've had to flick off some huge ones.

Do you guys have those damned banana spiders in SC that make the webs that stretch between two trees that are at least 15 feet away from each other sometimes? We have them down here in GA. It's fucking terrifying running into those webs at night, trying to be quiet in a cow field less than a 100 yards from the farmers house, and my first reaction being to say something extremely loud.
Normally "SUCK A FUCK."
I really, really hate those spides.

Hahaha. I was the same way. But then my time came...
I've killed about five or ten since then, lol.

Ugh man. Stepped on a snake not to long ago, pretty sure it wasn't poisonous but the things just creep me out the way they move. I froze so hard I couldn't even run. Good thing it was way more petrified of me apparently.

The second shroom is cool looking. It looks like a Tylopilus.
As far as spiders are concerned, we must remember they are God's creatures. Spiders are beautiful and the Golden Globe spider tastes like grapes.

But fuck spiders. They scare the shit out of me. The only one I'm not afraid of are Daddy Long Legs. 1. They don't make webs. 2. They can't bite you because their mouth isn't built for it.
I ate a spider while mushroom hunting once. I was looking for Morels in Michigan, walking through the woods with my mouth hanging open and walked through a spider web. The spider went in my mouth and I immediately swallowed it. I was like FUCK!!!!
This year some weird ass spider has been all over the place in the woods. It has some kind of hard shell on its back that looks like some bug it's eating. Those can have webs 15 feet across too. Sometimes I'll pick a branch or dead stick and wave it in front of me like wand to knock their webs down before they're in my face. It looks gay as hell, but at least I don't get a spider face. Fuck that.
One time I had to solder some copper pipes in a crawl space where some pipes had frozen and broke. The crawl space was only about 2 and a half feet tall and was filled with spiders. There were thousands of them. To say I didn't like it would be an understatement.

Looks like a Wolf Spider. That would be the egg sack.
