Habitat: found quite a few of these growing in a cow pasture, only one or 2 were growing directly from the manure, most were growing around tufts of grass that were growing from old decomposed manure that was no longer in patty form. though i did see hundreds of little pin growing from the pattys themselves just little dots though
Gills: gills were a grayish brown, turning dark brown to black after beaning picked
Stem: stem was fairly long, most were wavy and fibery, only a few were really straight, stem was a redish brown color turning darker after being picked
Cap: on biggest ones the cap were around 1-1.5 inches, the more mature ones were flattening out and becoming slightly wavy, brown rings can be seen mostly toward the outside of the cap and a lighter orangish color in the center
Spore print color: black, not brown in any way. could be easily seen dusting the caps of the smaller ones below the tall ones
Bruising: didnt notice any obviouse bruising certainly nothing blue or green in color

Panaeolus subbalteatus will have close gills and Panaeolina foenisecii has more distant gills and they should stay brownish
foenisecii (http://mushroomexpert.com/panaeolus_foenisecii.html)
subbalteatus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panaeolus_subbalteatus) even though the gills here are still brown you can see the how they are much more crowded than foenisecii

hey guys thnks for the input, I know ill need a LOT more than 2 subbs to be enlightened, but allot of em were premature and just starting to grow so i planned on going back today to harvest, i picked the 2 that i did because they were the only ones that looked like they would die before i came back, the gills on those particular 2 were deff tightly packed and not seperated like foes, and the spores were deffenetly BLACK not brown at all. the ones i left behind had much thicker stems about 3/4 the diameter of the cap when they were about 2 inches tall. will get more pictures today when i go back and pick the rest. one question i have is, i saw tons of pies that had literally hundreds up little pins coming up from them, about how long can i expect to wait before they reach maturity? 1-2 days or more?
