So, i was walking through a field, i live near Seattle WA by the way, and i saw some of those long tubes of cow dung that they leave on lawns to fertilize them, anyhoo so i was walking with my girl and saw some tiny mushrooms sticking out from under the crap. Now im an Ex-pothead and i left it because it was wearing my wallet down and i hate the muchies. so i decided to pick some of the shrooms and take them home to identify them. They were small, around three inches long, brown-ish, like a rusty orange, concave but expanding with age. I thought at first they would be the conocybe species but i didnt wanna eat them because i wasnt sure but i reeeeeally wanted to trip so i went to my prior knowledge and remembered that my homies told me that shrooms grew under cow dung, so i bit the bullet and bolied them, i dumped the water out and ate them knowing that they were most likely not gonna kill me. for a couple seconds i felt a little "cool" but the feeling left quickly. Afterwards i waited two hours to feel something but nothing happened. After that i became paranoid and thought i was gonna die. Then after i didnt die i realized that maybe all the psychoactive components might have gone down with the water that had been turned into a tea. So im wondering now if wether its a good idea to go back, get some more and try again. Please, help a recovering pothead out.

Welcome to the shroomery!
Definitely a good idea to go back, but make sure you know what species they are before you eat them.
Even one or two of the wrong species in your tea will fry your liver and then the doctors will want $800,000 to install a new one in you and you could probably put that money to better use.
It sounds like you were looking in the right habitat for Panaeolus subbalteatus, go back and take some pictures and make spore prints.
The mushrooms you ate sound like a non-toxic Bolbitius or maybe a toxic Conocybe, both are common in that habitat.

Yes, they can grow right next to each other. If you look at them really carefully they will look slightly different however.
Deadly Galerina and active Psilocybe often shares the same habitat, sometimes they grow so close that the caps touch.

damn, that's scary dawg. it's just so hard to identify. I guess it's my fault i came into the shroom business thinking it would be as easy as the pot business. i mean there you buy a dime bag and you're baked. here it's so complicated, and scary.

Not scary, you just need to learn what you are doing. It's like anything really.
