Are any of these magical?
    #8882650 - 09/05/08 02:20 PM (2 months, 26 days ago)

I was in the woods this morning after a couple of days of rain up here in NW Arkansas. I found some new mushrooms and would love to know if i happend to stumble across any worth eating. thanks

They were all found near the bottom of big trees like oaks

its just 2 shrooms.. the top and bottom of each.. the redish one is about 3 inches across the smaller one about 3/4inch

1) Russula near emetica
2) Laccaria

You will need to try different habitats to find your mushrooms.

All mushrooms are magical but only a few are active.

you need to read up on what you're looking for before you go out. Otherwise you're just wasting time.

Yes.

Here is a picture and description of Gymnopilus spectabilis, one of the larger active mushrooms that are called Gyms.
