Mushroom Group 1:
Habitat: Backyard, soil, beside a slowly decomposing section of wood once used to contain a garden. Canada, Ontario, No noticeable dung evident (insect maybe?). Had been growing out of simple timbre wood.
Gills: White and brown, attached, gills.

Stem: 5.5cm in length, about 1-1.5cm in diameter; thin, but thicker than my other finds. slightly fuzzy, white mycelium evident at the bottom of the stem, white, solid.

Cap: 6cm in diameter, a light tan colour, spherical, concave, slightly rubbery feel.

Spore Print: Still in the works, will update asap
No noticed bruising.
Smells similar to store bought mushrooms except a stronger scent, deep earthy aroma.
Additional info: Cap had been torn off and there was a bite out of it, but the entire thing wasn't eaten...potentially inedible?
Mushroom group 2:
Habitat: Backyard, soil, near, but not on slowly decomposing log. Canada, Ontario, no dung evident. Growing right out of the ground.

Gills: Much like top of cap, ranges from a deep gold to a pale yellow, seemingly slightly mottled. Definitely attached gills present.

Stem: Solid , 4.5cm in length, maybe .5cm of a cm in diameter, quite thin. White, rather rubbery, extremely fragile.

Cap: 3cm in diameter, a tan colouration, ranging from almost golden to light yellow, mottled with white patches. Fragile texture, slightly bumpy. Spherical and convex.

Spore Print: This one also is in the works still, but I just checked, so far looks like a deep gray, but there is too little to give a definite answer at this point.
No bruising noticed, smell similar to but much fainter than the previous mushroom, almost undetectable.
Additional info: While handling I couldn't get a good grip with the gloves I was using so I used my hands...left a really weird colouration on my finger. (see picture) It's a little blurry, so if you can't notice there was blue, orange and a bit of red, the blue ranged from dark bruise-like blue to a soft baby blue.

Mushroom group 3:
Habitat: Pretty close to group 2, thought they were the same species until I looked at their stems. Backyard, soil, near, but not on slowly decomposing log. Canada, Ontario, no dung evident. Growing right out of the ground.
Gills: Very light yellow..or white with a slightly tan tinge in colouration, gills definitely present, attached.

Stem: Hollow as shown by picture, 4 in length, maybe .8 of a cm in diameter, quite thin. White, rather rubbery, extremely fragile.

Cap: 3cm in diameter, solid light brown colour, soft and smooth, spherical and convex.
Spore Print: Just checked, either needs a lot more time or is white. Cap was still hydrated, not dryed out in anyway. For now, undetermined, will update asap.
Smells almost like a spice, fairly faint scent though. nothing else about this one really.
Mushroom group 4
Alright, first off there were 7 or 8 mushrooms present in the little cluster, located in exactly same habitat as all the others, just a tad closer to the log, but not attached. However, only a few of the mushrooms seemed to be of the same species...but i'm not sure so this possibly is an additional group...i'll explain more at spore prints.

Gills: First difference, mushroom one I will call it was large, deep brown gills which were attached. Mushroom 2 on the other hand had light gills, more of a cream or white in colouration, also attached.
far left and right are supposed mushroom two, centers are mushroom ones.
 Mushroom one gills.
 Mushroom two gills.
Cap: about 6cm in diameter for mushroom one, closer to 4 for mushroom 2. Mushroom one looked flower like with little folds in its outer edge (making it seem like there were petals). Mushroom 2 did not really possess this. Mushroom 2 had a strictly white top and was spherical, convex, mushroom one had a top that was much more conical in comparison and also ranged from a cream colour at the outer edges to a tan colour at the center point, one portion was brown.
 Mushroom one cap
Stem: 4.5cm for Mushroom 1, 4cm for mushroom 2. both were about .8-1.2 cm in diameter. Both were white, however mushroom 2 possessed small bumps all along its stem whereas Mushroom one's was completely smooth. Both were hollow and fairly thin.
 Mushroom 1 stem
Mushroom 2 stem (ignore the cap, this picture shows the bumps i mentioned best).
Spore Print Colour: This was what got me thinking they were different species instead of the same at different points in growth, then again..i'm completely new to this so i'm probably wrong :P. Both gave a print on white paper in minutes however Mushroom one and two had the exact same dark brown print. The only difference was there was a region near the base of Mushroom' ones cap which was closer to black than brown...otherwise identicle.
Scent: No distinguishable scent. No bruising noticed.
Thats about it, additionally, first picture in all of those posted was 'mushroom one', second was mushroom two. Thanks
Woot. Beginning of my first I.D.

Some of those mushrooms are Psathyrella candolleana. Maybe all of them are that species. I don't see any pics that are definitely not that.

Hmm, and if any of the spore prints come out something other than brown/purple-ish?
Also...for preparing a microscope slide for spores, is it pretty much same deal as doing a swab of anything? I'm planning on getting one soon

Then you have something else.

For spores put a few thousand of them on a slide, add a drop of water and a cover slip and you are good to go.
If you are going to use a scope for mycology, get How to Identify Mushrooms to Genus III: Microscopic Features.
