im doin spore prints right now. why are they so important? is that like the ultimate deciding factor?

In this case spore prints are necessary because I can barely see the mushroom due to the small pic.
The print color will separate it from a bunch of toxic ones.
Is there any blue staining where these are damaged?

yea. the stems are tiny so its kinda hard to tell but they kinda got smushed in the bags and turned blue. are u tellin me if the spore print is like a dark color then it means they active?? sorry im real new to this, but really facinated by it

It can be the ultimate deciding factor in whether you live or not. There can be 2 IDENTICAL mushrooms that are separated by a spore print. Now in this case I don't think there are any that can kill you...This may not be true I'm not very familiar with look alikes for these. Alan will clear that up if I'm wrong I'm sure.

Since you found this mushroom coming directly from poo and its turning blue, its safe to say that this is Copelandia cyanescens.
Spore print should turn out jet black.

20 might be too much. Make sure all of them have black spore prints and bruise blue. If any aren't turning blue, toss them out.

I think it IS NOT safe to say they are Copelandia cyanescens.
Judging by the picture and the habitat and supposed bluing then they MAY be Cope cyans. However the picture is of very shitty quality.
No offense to you jackshroomer but I've seen plenty of posts from new users (low post count) with pictures of "bluing" that was in fact NOT bluing.
Alan, please don't go against the rules and give the okay when evidence is lacking for an ID. You are a moderator after all.

i just went out into the same field and picked alot more. all the same.. coming right out of dung, alot bigger this time too. im doin the spore prints right now, and i will have some pics up in a few hours. but i wantd to know if there are any look alikes for these and a some good ways to id the looka likes (beside spore print). they were growing mostly in the middle of the field too and the grass around them was taller then the other parts of the field. i was under the impression that they grew near fence lines and tree lines mostly tho.

Given the way the pics look and that he says they are turning blue and grew straight from dung, I am pretty sure they are copes.
Even if he is wrong about them turning blue they are clearly Panaeolus based on the pic.

Check his recent posts. I banned him from the hunting forum for a couple weeks about ten days ago, and Anno banned him from the whole site for a week a couple days after that. Kind of a sad situation.
He is the only active hunting forum poster that is banned right now.

dude i found the motherload today man. the conditions were perfect. had to lie to the farmer told him i lost my dag. worked like a charm he actually unlocked the gate for us. we got about 70 grams of fresh ones today. its gonna be great thanks for the help

they all turned blue but some not as fast as the others??? does this mean something??

No. They should all blue in around 60 seconds...1 minute. I think the faster they turn it usually means the higher the content of psilocin.
